Great for the money!
This thing is awesome. I scanned my dogs chip and it came right up. Then I scanned my mom's dog and cat and it worked on them too. I was skeptical because of the price, but it's great.

Works great for checking pets chips
Works great for checking our dogs chips. We check monthly to make sure they are functioning. Easy to use. Reads the chip number back to you as well

Does its job perfectly!
Stray animals always find their way to me somehow. It's a pain to take them to a vet to get scanned if they're found outside of business hours. I needed a low-cost alternative to all the expensive microchip scanners out there. I tested this one out on both my dog and my cat, searched up the microchip number, and sure enough, it came back with my info so I can confirm it works! It does have an annoying high-pitched beep; my animals (like many) are sensitive to those noises so it's not ideal, but it's not a huge deal.

Junk
We have 5 cats and 2 dogs that have been chipped. The scanner would not read any of the chips.

Will not read AVID microchips
I bought because I was curious about my cats microchips. It was able to read the microchips from my cats chipped at the vet with Indimini microchips. However this scanner will NOT read a AVID microchips.

Peace of Mind!
We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and we rescue. I've wanted a chip reader because you ARE supposed to scan your pets once a year or so (usually just have the vet's office do it) to be sure their chip is still working, and still where it should be (chips can migrate around a pet's body). I also often have rescue animals here and it's more convenient to scan them myself than take them in for it. This scanner is lightweight, was accurate on all 5 pets, and well worth the price to KNOW. I used it to scan the momma cat we have and confirmed she has no chip. She was as untroubled by having the gadget run over her body as my own pets were - we had a huge scanner unit at a vet's office I worked at and many animals found it scary, plus it was hard to scan all over a small pet with such a big wand. This compact unit was super easy to use and didn't spook anyone.

Awesome!
Turned it on, scanned the first cat. Chip found! For my second cat, nothing. I was worried but took the advice in the comments, scanning his whole body before finding his chip between his two front legs. Another chip!As a third and final test, I scanned our recent rescue pup. He's not chipped. And the reader indicated no copy was found. That's three correct readings.Additional Info: My cat's chips were placed almost a decade ago.I was cynical about this device but so glad I got it. I, like others, have had bad experiences at the veterinarian's office. Please watch out for predatory practices. Many thanks to the seller for distributing a little peace of mind. Rare to find these days.
