The best option for correcting posture
Effects: I’ve only been using it for a week, but it has made a dramatic difference in my posture. My muscles between my shoulder blades and across my breast bone are sore from keeping my back upright and correcting the negative effects of slouching. I usually roll my shoulders forward, which makes my torso sink inward, causing back pain and just plain looking unattractive. Slouchy hunchbacks aren’t very pleasing to the eye. Anyway, I’m still learning all of the benefits of the app, but I’m really enjoying it. My brain and body are already conditioning themselves to go to the natural straight position before I even put my Go on for the day. Comfort: You can’t feel the device on your back at all. If it didn’t vibrate when I let my posture go too much, I would forget it’s there. The vibrations can be adjusted to different strengths and pulses. They don’t shock you or anything like that. Think of it as if your phone vibrated from a notification and just happened to be on your back and not your pocket. Not a big deal at all. Battery: Just using it from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the battery was down to 10%, so I’ve been charging it every night, so that it won’t quit in the middle of the next day. **amendment- The longer I have it in “training mode”, the faster the battery is depleted. If you spend more time in “tracking” where there are no vibrations, the battery lasts longer. Price: I’ll admit, I wouldn’t normally pay so much for something like this, but I decided it would be a good investment. I had one of those velcro brace things that you wear, but I lost it, so I’d decided to get a new one. I didn’t really like any of them. They were all too bulky to wear under clothes, so you would either need to wear it under a sweater/cardigan or just walk around and not care. I also thought about how they do all of the work for you. Sure, it pulls your shoulders back and makes you sit up, but if I missed a day, I would go back to my old habits. The Upright Go forces you to do the work, so that it becomes ingrained into your muscle memory. I would highly recommend this device for anyone who is looking for a permanent solution. It provides different options and settings for the kind of activity you’re currently doing and gives tips and advice. I sit at a desk most of the day, but get up frequently, so I have mine set to moderate. I really do like this product and I did NOT receive any benefits or promotional credits for this review.

Reluctant to purchase, but so glad I did!
While the upright go is not perfect, it certainly works for correcting your posture. It is basically meant for if you are sitting at a desk all day. I don't really find that it works well for if you're walking around your house cleaning and the like since it can't really register that you are reaching for something or bending over. It is a little pricey, but better than wearing a brace, which i had considered. Several reviews stated that it didn't hold the charge, but I didn't find that to be a problem. I can wear it all day at work and the charge lasts all day. The only issue i had was the sticky tabs that it comes with don't stick for many hours. However, a previous reviewer had recommended buying Body/Dressing Tape. That was great advice. the tape was about $7 and well worth it. I don't recommend buying their tabs. The body tape brand that was recommended that i purchased and it works great was "Braza Body/Dressing Tape". Also, i wear it much longer than the recommended amount and i never do the tracking mode, i keep it on the training mode so that it buzzes whenever i start to slouch. If you choose to purchase, i hope that it works as well for you as it did for me. It alleviates the major neck pain i suffer from. There are times where i forget to charge it at night or think i will be fine without it, but i always regret not wearing it. I would give it 5 stars, but the sticky tabs it comes with are not very good, and if they could perfect the technology to recognize when you are reaching for something or bending down to pick something up vs. poor posture, that would be fantastic.

The item has to be really good or a huge rip-off for me to bother
First, it is rare that I review anything. The item has to be really good or a huge rip-off for me to bother. But when I was looking into this product and reading the reviews here, I almost decided to pass on this one based on some really negative Amazon reviews. After more research elsewhere I decided to go ahead and get two of them, one for my wife as well. We are both athletes in our 60s and are continually getting on each other for slouching. We needed something like this! The short story: My Upright Go does exactly what they claim. So...5 Stars! (Wife has not started yet). DETAILS: If you are thinking of purchasing this item 1. You MUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!. If you hate instructions, don't buy it, and 2. It would be very helpful to have access to a smart phone to set up the device. Yes, you can use it without a smart phone as they claim, but it is not optimal, as they warned! I used my wife's phone to get the app and dial in the device. Took me about three sessions to really figure out how to set everything for home use, then office use. Totally different settings! But I COULD settle for a happy medium if I had no more access to a smart phone ever again. The phone I used is an iPhone 4G and the app is not supposed to work on it, but it is perfect. If this device shipped without the app, or I didn't have even one friend with a smart phone to set it up, I'm thinking my rating would be much lower, maybe 3 stars. I don't like the factory setting at all, unless I was only sitting in front of the TV or desktop PC. Then it would be OK out of the box. Moving around a lot doing everyday things, forget it. Now for you folks complaining about the glue. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! My Upright Go is stuck to my back right now as I type this - SEVEN straight days with the original sticky patch still working great. Grab an alcohol swab and wipe the spot on your back, then dry with a clean paper towel. Really rub well with the paper towel. Don't touch the sticky with your hands and always store it IN THE CASE when not in use. The inside of the case is made from special plastic material that does not affect the glue at all. Unless you have crocodile skin or some kind of snail genetics the thing is going to stick for a week at least with each glue strip. Obviously, if you are a Bigfoot, you'll need to shave that spot. There is even a way to clean the glue if it gets dirty. HINT: For home and office use I set the device buzzing pattern to Long and Sensitivity (how far you slouch before you get scolded) to 5 or 6. At home, I like a 10 to 15 second delay before the device buzzes me. At work I need at least 20 seconds delay. Without continued access to a smart phone I would set the device at 20 seconds and be happy with that home and office. Out of the box it was set at 5 seconds - NO BUENO! This would drive you mad. GRIPES: If I were sitting in church the buzzing would sound like a jet landing. At work when I am moving around a lot, I can't hear it and often can't feel it. You can fix the church part by setting the device to Tracking which kills the vibration, or just turn it off. If you don't have a smart phone the tracking mode does you no good anyway. Tracking just keeps recording posture data so you can see how bad you slouched all day next time you use the app. There are a few different setting for Short, Medium, or Long vibrations you choose from through the app. Short is really just a tap, long is like a cell phone buzzing. EFFECTIVENESS: After only one week I can tell you something with 100% certainty: Your posture will improve WHILE YOU WEAR IT for sure. Long term? I don't know yet. But I don't care. If I have to wear the thing a few days a week for a year it's a winner. THE UPRIGHT GO WORKOUT: The app gives you goals to hit starting at 5 minutes and ending at 20 minutes over the first five day period. I wore the thing for several hours every day my first week and had no issues. Your muscles will get tired and my abs got sore after two days but I have no ill effects. I am a serious athlete so I do everything in excess anyway. I have no fear that this device will hurt me with overuse. Eventually my "good posture muscles" get tired and I just call it a day at that point and return the device to it's pouch. CONCLUSION: Best if you have two or three days access to a smart phone to set up the device. You only need five minutes of phone time a day to do this. Maybe a coworker can help if you don't have a partner at home. And for Pete's sake...READ THE DANGED INSTRUCTIONS!! DISCLAIMER: I have no affiliation with this product or the makers of this product. In fact, I never even heard of it until a coworker recommended it about one month ago. Hand to God, this is not a faked review. I am wearing the thing right now. Cheers!

Great concept, failed execution
I was so excited to get this - I have recurring back issues and hoped it could help resolve them. And in initial tests around the house, it was very promising. The failure point for me was the adhesive. On day 4 of wearing it to work (which is where I am most likely to slouch), it disappeared - the adhesive failed and it is lost. I’d been afraid of this happening, so bought medical grade adhesive tape to ensure a better “stick”. However, the silicone backing is designed to work with the jelly-like adhesive pads (intended to be removable), so the adhesive tape didn’t stick. So I used the provided adhesive. Before the catastrophic lost-device failure, there were some frustrations with the app, which feels a little beta at times. It was pretty easy to set up, but failed during migration to a new phone. Reset required signing out, and my saved password didn’t work - and password recovery was delayed a whole day due to “connection issues”. Battery life was just OK; it doesn’t last a whole day. The Apple Watch app integration is also a great idea, but a failed execution - the watch haptic response is overactive and it kills the watch battery in a couple of hours. Customer service was great, however - responsive and helpful. The unit is nicely designed and packaged, and as a product has been well thought out. However, I am unable to give a good rating for a device that fails in basic application, including a design that prevents alternate adhesives. And, I am hugely frustrated at the $80 loss.

Easy to use, but only moderately effective
Updating my review in two ways. Firstly, it does help me sit/stand more upright, but with caveats. If I am working around the house (cleaning, doing home improvement), then I am constantly leaning over so it constantly gives me false alarms so I have to turn it off. And most of the time that I am standing up, I am either working around the house or doing something like riding my bike, so it's not that useful when I'm standing up. And when I am sitting down, my bad posture is not hunching forward; it is sliding down in my chair, and the top of my back stays "straight", so I don't get an alarm. Secondly, it may not actually be more waterproof than advertised. It still works for me after forgetting to remove before a shower, but the battery now only lasts for about four hours. Forgetting to remove it is "my fault", but this is certainly an easy thing for anyone to forget, and there are certainly ways for the design to be improved to prevent this, such as allowing a timed reminder to remove it at a certain time, or a rubber plug to go in the USB port. (Original review:) The trainer is easy to use in conjunction with the app and works as advertised. Just knowing that it is tracking my posture makes me stay more upright. It's not advertised as being waterproof (just sweat-resistant), but on the third day of using it I forgot I was wearing it and took a shower -- with the USB port facing up, so it collected lots of water. But I put it away to dry for three days and now it continues to work, so that is great. Obviously that is not recommended and your mileage may vary. On the negative side, it doesn't catch all bad posture. Right now I am using it but slouched way down/back in my chair -- but the trainer doesn't care because the top part of my back is still upright (actually leaning back a bit, which the trainer doesn't care about). But at least the trainer makes that a conscious decision (how can I slouch in a way that won't make the trainer buzz at me? Would it be easier to just not slouch?).

It really works!
I really wanted to improve my posture but at the same time was doubtful that this product would work. I tried the physical back braces that manually pull your shoulders back -- those never worked for me and instead only hurt my armpits because the straps would dig in. Surprisingly, this little device really works! It buzzes me whenever my back is slouched and tracks my posture throughout the day. I like seeing what percent of the time my back is straight because I use it to compete against myself to do better the next day. Things I like about the device: 1. Measures my progress 2. Reminders are gentle and discrete 3. Customer service team is great Things I wish could be improved: 1. Battery life is low. The battery usually dies before the end of the day (I usually start at 9am and it dies around 7pm). I would be nice to have a device that ran all day. 2. Buzzing can get annoying sometimes when I bend over to do tasks such as tying my shoe. I deactivate it then, but would be cool to have it recognize that I'm so bent over that it must be on purpose. 3. Stickies aren't really reusable. I wish the stickies could be used more than 2-3x. They're rather expensive to buy (when counting the cost over time), so it'll be great to either have the stickies be more reusable or cheaper. I bought double sided tape to fix the problem, but it's not as good as the stickies that come with the device. To be specific, the double sided tape is a little itchy. Overall, great device and I look forward to continue to use it!

It doesn't detect slouching - it detects leaning forward, doesn't matter how straight your back is
I usually don't write reviews but since this is an expensive item which doesn't do what it claims to do I figured it would be prudent to write it. The main issue I have this product is that it does not vibrate when I slouch - it vibrates when I lean forward. So if I am sitting in a chair or driving with the back of the seat which is leaned backwards it believes that my back is straight and it doesn't react to any difference in the posture - as long as your spine is directed vertically. According to the Cambridge English Dictionary to slouch is to stand, sit, or walk with the shoulders hanging forward and the head bent slightly over - this device is not able to detect hanging of the shoulders and bending of the head - the only thing it can detect is direction of the spine. It was showing 75 - 90 % of straight back for me on the lowest slouching setting although i do have big issues with shoulders curled forward and bending of the head (causing neck pain). Don't see the point in keeping it. Pros: the idea is great - if it really could detect slouching, battery lasted for 12 hours of wearing without need to charge (it fell off after 12 hours so I put it back to charger), vibrating reminds you to straighten your back which actually does improve the posture. Cons: doesn't detect slouching - detects leaning forward, the sticky thing doesn't hold very well (I did clean the area with the alcohol swab before applying , it was catching my hair and did fell off when I sweat a little after drinking hot tea)

My posture is improving with this simple device!
I was having severe back pain from my poor posture. I also have fibromyalgia so my muscles are really sensitive to painful stimuli and I get severe muscle spasms. I couldn't sleep, the pain was unbearable. My doctor told me the only way to relieve the pain was to improve my posture. I tried really hard to change and have better posture at my desk but I would revert to old habits. I purchased this wonderful device and my world changed. This device is super easy to set up and use. You will need to use your smart phone. It says to use iPhone 5 or newer but this works just fine with my iPhone 4C. The device and the free app you download on your smart phone work together. You set your posture everyday and wear the device. It tracks your posture and gives you a buzz if you are slouching while in the training mode. When I do not want the buzz, because I am in a meeting or doing something where I will be bending over often then I change to tracking mode. No buzzing in tracking but it will send a text if I am slouching. This thing tracks your position. Since it can only sense when you are bent forward, it will track as slouching even it your are bent forward tying your shoes, reaching in the lower cupboards, etc. This has changed my life. I am getting less feed back (buzzing) while working at my desk, I am tucking my tummy more which improves my posture immediately. Best of all after using the device 4 days in a row, the severe pain in my back lessened and I was able to sleep at night. I was also able to reduce the amount of pain meds I was taking. The customer service is great also. I text them a question and someone answered very quickly sending me a link to some videos. They have great videos that help to explain things and they followed up to make sure my questions were answered. The adhesive lasts about a week. They send a little case and charging cord. The battery lasts about 12 hours, which is longer than I wear daily. Place the Go in the little case, plug it in and the next day it is ready to use again. I think if I left it out in the air, the adhesive would not last as long. It does not irritate my skin at all. The adhesive does not hold when I am sweating heavy, like when hiking on a really hot day. The case is very small and easily fits in a pocket or purse. I have been using it for about 14 days now. This device is really wonderful, it does exactly what it says it will do, and I am glad I did not listen to the poor reviews. (I suspect those people do not use with a smart phone, or keep it in the case at night.) Give this a try, it is simple to use but like everything, you must follow the few simple instructions for the best experience.
