Caterpillars: A Beginner's Bug Guide with Life-Like Illustrations Based on the Peterson System Review: Excellent science book! - For all those caterpillars we find in the yard, my children may now identify which butterfly it will become. It's a great book, full color photos, and just the right size for my kids to flip through quickly to find the info they need. By the way, a stack of nature guides is all I use for our homeschool science for the first few years. It helps them learn to "look it up" and discover the wonders of creation. Review: Butterfly Caterpillar - I bought this for my grandniece. I am a serious amateur lepidopterist and she asked me what the caterpillar was that she found in her garden. I told her and then thought that kids often find caterpillars crawling around, they are funny looking or colorful, and it might be a good idea for me to get her a book on caterpillars. It is easy to find pictures of the butterflies, not so easy for their larva. This was a good general introduction of caterpillars she might find. I told her how to rear one in a potted plant. Later she called and told me the book was right because the butterfly was what the book said the caterpillar was. I think I have a budding scientist in my family.

Could be more featured caterpillars!
I liked what little there was there. Great pictures and information, but not enough specimens shared!

Good book but not what I required

Anybody buying this book needs to be aware that it refers only to caterpillars found in North America, although some are found here. Other than that it is fine, but limited in scope.
