Lily and Harry’s relationship is so captivating and interesting. Although she doesn’t come in until later in the book, you are waiting for her. The introduction of the new characters is very interesting as well. The twists are so good, and honestly you don’t see it coming. I’m excited to read the next book of this series.

The perfect sequel to the perfect novel.
The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson is one of my favorite books ever written. Any time anyone asks for a recommendation, that is the first one I give. It's perfect. It's a nonstop ride that grabs you and doesn't let go until the very SHOCKING last page. When I saw that it was getting a sequel, I felt so many things -- excitement, fear, longing, wonder...could the sequel ever hold a candle to the original? I ordered it for release delivery day (of course), but then I let it sit for a couple of weeks, because I was afraid to start it, and I also didn't want it to be over.I picked it up and read it, and my God...it was perfect. I didn't know what I wanted the sequel to my favorite book to be. I couldn't fathom what that would look like. Would I have come up with The Kind Worth Saving? No. Was it absolutely perfect? Yes. The characters were brilliant. The book is about killing and sociopathy and revenge, yet somehow, it was cozy? Peter Swanson has a way of writing that puts you into the car, the shoes, the BRAIN of the character, and it overtakes you so completely that it is unlike reading any other author. I can't wait for a few months to go by so I can forget the details of this book and then pick it up again and rediscover it.Thank you, Peter Swanson. Thank you.

Had high hopes after the first book in the series but this one just dragged for me. Actually put me in a reading slump.

ANOTHER GREAT read even though 8 years later !
MAR ‘23 - 4 STARSDESCRIPTION :There was always something slightly dangerous about Joan. So, when she turns up at private investigator Henry Kimball’s office asking him to investigate her husband, he can’t help feeling ill at ease. Just the sight of her stirs up a chilling memory: He knew Joan in his previous life as a high school English teacher, when he was at the center of a tragedy. Now Joan needs his help in proving that her husband is cheating. But what should be a simple case of infidelity becomes much more complicated when Kimball finds two bodies in an uninhabited suburban home with a FOR SALE sign out front. Suddenly it feels like the past is repeating itself, and Henry must go back to one of the worst days of his life to uncover the truth. Is it possible that Joan knows something about that day, something she’s hidden all these years? Could there still be a killer out there, someone who believes they have gotten away with murder? Henry is determined to find out, enlisting help from his old nemesis Lily Kintner.REVIEW :First 4 books by this author for me were Nine Lives (‘22 - 4 Stars), Every Vow You Break (‘21 - 4 Stars), Before She Knew Him (‘19 - 5 Stars) and The Kind Worth Killing (‘15 - Read ‘18 - 4 Stars). Sale $11.99 using $3 Kindle Rewards. Very consistent author. I just loved how this author writes. He always tricks me some how. I loved how he connected book 1&2; very original for me. Even though 8 years since book 1, (5 years for me) it worked for me. Obsession, grudges, the past intruding on the present all worked so well. This author is always good at character development, keeping you glued to the pages with their backstories and connections. I loved how the main character, Henry Kimball, kept inventing himself and pushing on. I hope this series does not end and we get to find out what is next for this character & Lily too !

A great follow up to The Kind Worth Killing
I loved this book, though I did love the first one just a bit more. The new characters were interesting, but the ones from the last novel coming back made it for me. I enjoyed learning about Henry’s backstory, and it helped make some things about his character make more sense. At the same time, it’s hard to understand why he makes the choices he makes knowing full well how they’ll turn out. All part of the ride, I suppose…I have high hopes that Lily will be back for the next installment! But anyways, if you like psych thrillers, this is worth the read, though I recommend reading the first one to get the full picture of what’s unfolding and why.

Ok . . .
I always enjoy reading a book by Peter Swanson. I read the first book to this series. This one was a little bit slow for me. Usually, I read his stories very quickly. It took me a little longer to get through. I was hoping for a happy ending for Henry. Maybe next time?

The Kind Worth Saving by Peter Swanson 5/5 ⭐️
The Kind Worth Savingby Peter Swanson5/5 ⭐️Henry Kimball runs a tiny private investigation firm after his awkward departure from the Boston Police Department. He is desperate for cases so when a familiar woman hires him to investigate her husband, he quickly takes the case. Joan Grieve, now Whalen, is a memory from Kimball’s previous career. She was his student during the unforgettable tragedy of his high school teaching days.Joan suspects that her real estate broker husband is sleeping with her friend. Kimball follows the couple to a listing and discovers more than infidelity. He witnesses the husband and the mistress being murdered. Kimball relives his painful past to uncover the truth behind the murders. With help from Lily, Kimball pieces the past to the present. They expose the secrets that have been hidden for years and identify the true killer. The Kind Worth Saving is a satisfying sequel to The Kind Worth Killing. You do need to read these books in order to understand the relationship between Kimball and Lily. The multiple POVs kept me interested and engaged as the story unfolded. Swanson’s writing style neatly builds up each character’s backstory until all the connections are transparent, and then he hits you with a twist. Meanwhile entertaining the reader with clever limerick poems from Henry Kimball. I also enjoy his fast-paced chapters and peculiar side characters. Lily’s dad made me lol a few times. I would highly recommend this book!

Well done
I started out a bit concerned that it's been so many years since I read the previous book to this series, but it worked out fine. This is an excellent stand-alone book and the references to the previous one were good explanations. Great story with twists and turns to make it even better. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Picks up after a while
I immediately bought this, bc I was impressed by "The kind worth killing", and I have to say the sequel is really good as well. In my opinion, it has a little bit of a slow start, but the pace picks up eventually and it gets very exciting. Not as good as the first book, but Id still recommend it !!

Glorious
It’s a hard task- balancing drama with a murder plot. Yet that’s what thrillers are and Peter Swanson does it so remarkably well, it should be illegal.I hope we get a book 3- I am not done with Kimball & Lily, and I have a feeling that neither of them are done with each other as well.

An excellent sequel
There's a reason this man is my favorite modern mystery crime author and that's because he can write a mean book and knows exactly how to utilize the characters he's built in the first book of this series.

Dark and tantalising.
Former policeman, teacher, and current private detective Henry Kimball is a man led by instinct. And when it comes to one of his former pupils, Joan Grieve, Henry knows he should stay well clear. Of course, that isn’t quite the way things pan out.I loved the steady progression of the story and that you couldn’t confidently predict what direction you would be heading in from one chapter to the next. Kimball is intuitive and thinks on his feet, which may be just what is needed but could equally see him become the late Henry Kimball. The players here are largely bereft of the sort of qualities we enjoy finding in each other and that’s what makes them such good company between the covers. This is one of those stories that make you want to cleanse yourself of all the rotten people you have spent time with; Henry excluded. What a very naughty tale.
