Delicious and moist
I was super hesitant after reading the reviews, but the cookies were in great condition. They were moist with a nice amount of citron, and deliciously chewy oblaten. I had to wonder about the people who tried to pull the wafers off thinking it was eased paper or something. Just as good as Balshen, with a nicely balanced spice taste.

Save your money…
Although the use by date was not past, these were stale and crumbling apart. Most of the tempered chocolate was cloudy and the wafer was peeling off of the bottom of them. This is proof that this was over a year old. An expensive mistake (bought 2) I won’t make again.

Beware of the paper separating the cookies
To whomever makes these cookies: Please , please stop using paper between the cookies and use a larger piece of parchment. I’m still pulling the paper out of my teeth. It took about 10 minutes to get the rest of the paper off of the backside of the cookie after I took a large bite. The glaze melted into the paper, making it nearly impossible to remove. The cookies are absolutely delicious though and very soft.

Not worth the cost
I got these because we’ve not had them for it but my dad side of the family is German and he’s really been trying to learn more about German food. So I picked these up for him for Christmas. None of us liked them. There was a few things with them that just Worked great. The packaging was already torn open when it got to us which was already a red flag. But one of the biggest problems was, they had some kind of thick paper on the bottom of them, but it wasn’t easy to remove the sugar and chocolate codeine had basically sealed it to the cookie And even the ones without the solid coating didn’t come off easy so you ended up with paper in about an eighth of the cookie that you just couldn’t get rid of. Beyond that the taste was just OK. It wasn’t anything special but I did have a weird texture. Part of it would be Perfectly normal cookie consistently and then you’d get another bite. They have a bit of paper in it and also have some kind of chunk of something in it as well that was just weird. So definitely not something we’re buying again.

Poor condition but still tasted good
Product was shipped loose in a box, without cushioning or packing paper. Cookies looked old, as if they had been sitting on a shelf for too long and the glaze had oxidized. They were crumbly around the edges and separating from the oblaten on the bottom. The redeeming quality is that they are still moist and have the distinct Lebkuchen deliciousness.
