The light sensing design is superior to the bulb with one hole design. One hole bulbs doesn't always face where it can sense the light the best when you screw the bulb in. You are stuck with where the sensor is facing (i.e. facing the back wall when used on the outdoor patio light fixture). I can loosen or tighten the bulb but the range of movement is very limited before it's too tiight and might break or too loose and looses the connection. This bulb doesn't have that problem. Screw it in and it works.I only had it for about 2 weeks so I can't comment on how long this bulb will last.Revosed May 17, 2018Worked great for about 6 months then it started to flicker constantly. If it lasted much longer, say 5 years or more, it would meet my expectation. I cannot recommend this product due to its short life span. I'm going to try another brand.

This works great! I first tested in a table lamp which has two light bulbs, each has its own switch. I replaced one of them with this bulb. Then I turned on the switch for this light bulb. It becomes bright right away. Then I turned on the other normal bulb. The moment the normal bulb brightened, this magic bulb immediately turned off - without turning off the switch! The next morning I tested again around 7:30am CDT. I turned the switch on while keeping the blind closed. The bulb lit up. Then I opened the blind next to the lamp, immediately the magic bulb no longer lit up without changing the switch. It worked like a charm! It could be a security measure while you are away from home for extended time period - just leaving this lamp on and letting it turn on at night time and turn off at day time automatically!

First bought dust to dawn socket for $7.49 from home improvement store. It would go on and off due to stray light from my garage motion lamp and neighbors post lamp. Bought these lights (2 pack) two days ago, screwed them in and waited for dusk. They came on and went off as described, was not affected by surrounded stray light. But look at the value comparison, paid $7.49 for socket only (had to provide bulb) this purchase came with LED 7 watt rated (22 years) bulb AND the dusk to dawn sensing technology for $8.00 per bulb plus it works!!! I love it.update, one bulb lasted only four months, disappointed because this is my property out of town.

Over the years I have tried many photo cell light sockets that are supposed to turn light bulbs on and off. Unfortunately, they would remain on when the days were cloudy. Thought I'd give these a try hoping that technology had improved over the years and these bulbs work great. I have purchased three at different times, waiting to make certain they would work under different conditions...porches, patio covers, shady areas, etc. So far I haven't found a situation where they don't work properly. Very pleased with them and have taped the light switches in the on position so family members don't accidentally turn them off.

I bought 5 of these bulbs about 9 months ago. One went bad after one month. Another gone after two months. Now after 8 1/2 months two of the remaining three went bad. The reason for two stars instead of one is the seller. They were responsive to my emails and sent the first two replacements for free (they also went bad). The product is a good idea and fits right into my outdoor lights, but doesn’t last. Too much to pay for a bulb that lasts this long. Don’t recommend them.

First time purchasing a bulb of this type. What can I say? I screwed it in, waited and it worked perfectly. Turns on and off just like it is supposed to do.

I installed this bulb in which worked til now so I will not rebuy and will steer towards the Phillips brand 4 out 4 are still working on my other outside lights.

Have been using these bulbs outdoor for a couple of months. Great light. I have to assume it will last for years. Consistently comes on a dusk and off again at dusk. Saved us from installing dusk to dawn lights by installing in our driveway lamp post and in a garage fixture. Love it!
