Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Best golf book! - I’ve read countless golf books over the years, but Daniel Grieve’s “3 Releases” stands head and shoulders above the rest. From the very first chapter, it’s clear that Grieve not only understands the technical side of the golf swing but also knows how to communicate it in a way that actually makes sense to everyday players. What sets this book apart is how simple and actionable the concepts are. The “three releases” framework completely transformed how I think about the golf swing — it took something that always felt complicated and made it feel natural, fluid, and repeatable. After just a few practice sessions applying Grieve’s methods, I noticed a dramatic improvement in both consistency and ball flight. The writing is clear, the illustrations are spot on, and the advice feels like it’s coming from a trusted coach standing beside you on the range. Whether you’re a weekend golfer or a serious player looking to fine-tune your game, this book delivers real results. Simply put, this is the best golf book I’ve ever read. If you’re serious about improving your swing, 3 Releases is an absolute must-read Review: Best short game book by far - This is one of the best book for the short game. I’m a retired golfer and wish I’d read this as soon as it came out. It’s so easy to follow and Dan is one of the best coaches for explaining the different techniques and drills for each shot depending on the lie etc; Since I’ve read this last year my handicap has gone down by 4 shots and it’s the short game that have made that possible. I now enjoy the short shots whereas before I dreaded them. I would highly recommend this book to all golfers. Even the single handicappers could go back and double check their techniques easily before playing. Well worth the money too. AP

A Valuable Resource
As a PGA professional, I recently had the pleasure of diving into Dan Grieves' "3 Release Short Game System," and I must say, it's a thoroughly impressive and insightful piece of work. Grieves has a knack for simplifying the complexities of the short game, offering a clear and actionable framework built around his three distinct release patterns. What I particularly appreciated was the logical progression and the detailed explanations behind each technique. The book isn't just a collection of tips; it's a well-structured system that provides a solid understanding of how different release styles can be employed to achieve various shots around the green. More importantly for me as an instructor, "3 Release" is packed with golden nuggets that I've already begun to incorporate into my own teaching sessions. The clarity of the concepts and the practical drills outlined in the book provide an excellent foundation for helping my students develop a more versatile and effective short game. Whether you're a fellow professional looking for fresh perspectives or a dedicated golfer seeking to improve your scoring zone, Dan Grieves' "3 Release Short Game System" is a valuable resource that I highly recommend. It's a well-written, practical guide that delivers on its promise.

Transform your short game
Every golfer has experienced days when the short-game has not been at its sharpest, raising the tension back to the second shot, e.g. “If I miss this green, I will have to play a pitch/chip I cannot play at the moment” and so on. I am a twelve handicap who has been much lower so expect to play these “simple”shots. … but, before purchasing this book, could not. Hitting close to long par fours in two before taking four more mis-hits from thirty yards, is infuriating … but not any more. The writer’s opening anecdote is one we have all seen, i.e. a professional (in this case Seve Ballesteros RIP) dropping a challenging, likely-bogey pitch right next to the pin and holing the putt to save par or better. Golf is a game of confidence, even at the highest level. “Three Releases” helps to develop short-game thinking and offers ways to improve technique in an area in which many ideas have been proposed since the game began. Professionals practise for hours to hone their skills with every club; some are especially gifted and, the more they practise, the “luckier they get”. (Gary Player in bunkers). This was recommended to me by Adams Trewhella, assistant professional at Basingstoke Golf Club. He and the professional, Carl Crown, both excellent teachers, teach short game techniques. When he mentioned it to me, I thought “Just another book!’ but he convinced me to buy it. I am glad I did. After the first reading, I put it to the test on the course, all three releases and, while they were not perfect, they look and felt like golf shots, not thins, fats or stubs. It changed my thinking from “Where is this wedge going to go?” to careful analysis of my address (etc), landing spots, trajectory … all positive thoughts. Thank you, Adam. This is one of the best short-game books I have read and I have a shelf full. Daniel Grieve obviously understands the short game, its complexities and the issues it can cause for many players. Grieve provides positive ways to improve - thinking and techniques - to take some of the mystique out of the short-game by debunking many of the previous techniques. It is a modern perspective and careful analysis of shots around the green. However, each of the shots - address, take-away (useful left shoulder), wrist positions, extent of backswing, transition, contact and follow-through - will need to be practised. His understanding clearly comes from teaching and noting student’s swings and thinking. I purchased the KIndle Edition but may now buy the hard copy. The photography emphasises and clarifies the text very well, unlike some badly thought through and edited golf books. On the driving range on a wet day, where most players are exercising rather than practising, leaving the driver in the bag and playing short chips and pitches is a great way to understand the techniques and build the muscle memory to play these shots in “the heat of competition” - £1 roll-up, weekend competition or the Club Championship. Be prepared to put in some release practice time and expect to see a great improvement in your game. Recommended.

This book really is something special. Dan manages to explain the short game in a way that really changes the way you approach each shot. The "releases" is just a small part of the whole read, it also helps you understand when to play different shots as well as how to take the knowledge from the book and really learn it. I am far from mastering the content from the book but I am already seeing great improvements on the course. Really looking forward to this summer of practicing.
