Works great
This thing has been a huge help, I love to deer hunt but suffered a bad back injury which has required 2 surgery so far with a 3rd coming soon. I used to have my dad to help load or my nephew but 2 years ago it was going to be just me and my 7 year old son, who while tries his best to help, just can't lift a deer into the bed of my truck, yes there are other ways to do it, rope and a tree ect. But this thing works amazing, don't have to try to find a tree I can get my truck near, doesn't matter where I'm at, the legs adjust to uneven ground, the crank works easily, the pieces slide right into my truck and are easy enough to slide into my hitch and put together that my 7 year old does it in less than 5 min. He even runs the crank to lift the deer, then it spins so you can lower it right into the bed or your truck. Amazing it's been 2 years now and still works perfect and has loaded 4 deer.

Great little Hoist
Had a rough start with this thing first by it showing up absolutely wrecked and a few parts missing. Once I got that squared away and was able to use it, I really love it. Very strong and reliable. Two down side things is that they didn’t make the bottom supporting legs long enough. It’s on the highest level hole there is and it’s still about 2 inches short which creates an awkward slant when loading things. My truck isn’t even lifted so it would be nice if the legs were longer. The second thing is that when you have a load and you’re trying to lower it to the ground, you better hold on to that crank because if you let go, it spins and there’s no gearing to stop it until it hits the ground. I’ve almost caught the gear handle to my face a few times.Overall this thing has been very handy but a few things on it could be improved. Would recommend getting it.

Works great with an electric wench
I mounted a Badland 2000 electric winch on mine (search for best price), much faster than hand crank. I had to ream out one hole just a little for the second bolt to go in, I used a die grinder, drilling it out a little would also work. I was also able to attach a trailer hitch adaptor to the I beam on my log splitter. I can now lift heavy logs onto my splitter with ease and short lifting strap, or lift them for cutting. I can also use it on my truck. The crane is built very well, if you don't abuse it, it should last forever. I have recommended this to friends with log splitters. It breaks down to 3 parts so it's easy to move, store or set up.

Balance
The item arrived used. I was not aware of this. Also, the hoist roller bolts are too small. I don't know if this was a replacement set, but if you tighten the bolt and not properly the cable rollers will not turn thus putting strain on the cable. This lead to the cable fraying. This should be a easy fix. I will get longer bolts.Balance is the main thing to be aware of. This is set up so you can rotate the load, which is nice. However if you are on a sideways incline, the load will of course allow gravity to sing it downhill. In all, I am keeping the item. it works.

Great Piece of Equipment
This is a "double" review. 1. The hoist works exactly as advertised!!! I tested it last nite on my generator & it was phenominal!!! No more busted backs trying to roll it up ramps against an incline!!! 2. This is more of a statement directed at amazon (& yes, I will be making a complaint). When the box came I should have sent it back. It had been taped up like a 5 year old did it! An obvious return that I was charged full price for. But I need it so, what the heck. When I opened it everything seemed alright, when I took out the "swingarm" I read the warning label that said, "read all instructions before assembly & operation." Good idea. When I looked for the instructions for assembly....there were none!!! They hadn't been packed. Again, should have thrown it all in & sent it back but.... After about an hour of putting together a jigsaw puzzle of parts (really should only have taken about 1/2 hour. I had it together & I "think" I had all the parts. However, like I said, it works great just an issue with amazon.

Very satisfied
Arrived early! Well packaged with all parts. Directions were simple and easy to understand. Assembles quickly. Works extremely well; should have bought this years ago. Very pleased. Well done Viking!

Works for my intended purpose
I purchased this hoist to install and remove a fifth wheel hitch from the bed of my pickup. So far, it has worked well for that. Ideally, it would have a little more reach but then it would have to lift the hitch over the side of the bed, tradeoffs. One flaw I found recently, the steel bolts used for the aluminum pulleys are threaded full length, this results in the threads of the bolts acting like a file and removing material from the inside bearing surface of the aluminum pulley. In the long term this will open up the holes in the pulleys making for a sloppy fit, rough function and the possibility of the pulley not turning and the cable dragging across it, wearing both parts. My solution will be to find bolts that are not threaded all the way to the head or perhaps a pin of some sort, something smooth for the pulley to turn on. Pulleys with bearings could also be a fix but probably more difficult to source.

I should have got one these years ago!
I did not buy this to load big game up in the truck. I bought this specifically to load up equipment for my specific trade ( Plumbing). My intention with this tool is to load up jetters and drain cleaning equipment in my Ford Ranger to transport from our different shop locations and to my guys on-site when needed. This crane fits very well on my 2020 Ranger. I have a Systems One Contactor Rack System and I can use the crane to load up all but my biggest piece of equipment without having to take apart the back cross member of the rack to get the load in the bed of the truck. As far as the build quality it is on par with a professional-grade tool. The welds are smooth and the finish is top-notch. My package was dropped off at my doorstep with no issues as far as packaging goes. The box arrived in one piece and it was reinforced. Highly reccomened !!..
