Life Sucks

Its awful. Just truly awful. Its completely derivative and was just such a waste of my time to read. If this hadn't been assigned reading I wouldn't have bothered but I had to read it and I feel dumber for the experience. I really truly hated this.

I'm a fan of Jessica Abel's other work, particularly "La Perdida" which I think has a lot of soul and really captures something essential about the main character. Unfortunately this tale of an underachiever vampire doesn't come close. Not sure exactly what happened, maybe the idea sounded good at the outline stage but by the end this comic doesn't exactly know what it wants to be. A kind of vampire soap opera maybe? Anyway, if you're an Abel fan then please do get it and support her work, otherwise start with some of her other work.

Funny, unique in the sense that it completely un-glamorizes vampires. The main character is one of a few vampires who were "recruited" (bitten during what they thought was normal interviews) into vampiredom only to serve as clerks at 711 type shops for the older vampires. Relatable to young people in terms of awkwardness, working menial jobs, and trying to find honest ways to be with a person they like. Artwork was not fancy but good and vivid. My only complaint is that the main character's love interest is kind of airheaded.

Cute story, some what graphic. Classic story of a misfit young adult with a crush, has the added appeal of vampires. A more down to earth look at realistic vampires.

Hilarious and true-to-life.

I found this book interesting.

It was an interesting look into the life of vampires who aren't rich, but everyday folks trying to make ends meet.

Great comic

Edité en France, mais avec une couverture bien moins avantageuse., ce récit d'amour et de vampire, mais vu du côté "vie courante", et pas romantique comme Twilight, (il était paru avant), offre l'opportunité de lire un roman graphique à la fois nerveux, intelligent, et poétique. C'est assez rare.

I've been looking for this for a while, and my progress was hindered at first because I vaguely remembered reading it but forgot the name of the book! So funny, and intriguing, and the vibe of a sarcastic social commentary. I would recommend it to anyone!
