Pro-Tec Athletics Achilles Tendon Support, Tendinitis Relief, Compression Pad, Stabilization, Adjustable Strap & Heel Lift

I recently found out that I have tendonitis of the Achilles and after buying 4 different braces I came upon this one and ordered it. I love the contoured pad that nestle's and supports the Achilles tendon, it's easily the most comfortable solution out there. What I don't like is the sizing... I am over 50, weigh 157lbs, and am 5'9, I bought the XL and it's almost too small, especially when it comes to the heel strap. The heel strap is too short and as a result it forces the ankle strap to sit right on the top of the ankle bones, making it very uncomfortable. I have learned to deal with that though as this is easily the best brace that I've come across so far.

I've been suffering with achilles tendonitis for a few months. It's really disrupting my workout. I ordered this Pro-tec thing and it worked. It reduces the pain that I feel in my ankle and heel. I'm grateful for that. However, if I walk all day in it I can get a blister in the back of my ankle. Also the foot strap can slide off and end up in the back of your shoe, making for an uncomfortable experience. I ordered a different brand with no foot strap in hopes this will work better.

I'm 53 years old and recently strained my right Achillies working out. I saw this on Amazon and obviously ordered it. But being impatient and not wanting to wait three days, I picked one up at my local drug mart. It had three straps and was rated the most rigid of all three wraps. I wore and it actually worked, and I figured I'd just return the one from Amazon. The one from Amazon arrived and I took it out of the package. I thought to myself, how could something so basic be better than what I bought at Drug Mart. It only had two straps. Everyone knows three straps is better than two. So, just prior to putting it on, I noticed that the portion of the strap that would have gone across my Achillies had some type of foam pad sewn in. The pad had a notch in it that ran vertically and I'm guessing was designed for the tendon to rest in. I put it on and instantly felt better when I walked. It's not too bulky when wearing shoes. I like it much better than the ACE brand. This product looks cheap...bad choice of words. It looks too simple to work but believe me it does. I'm glad I tried it on. Would highly recommend.

As other reviews state the small/large size is way too small! The listing says that sizing goes by height and small/large should fit up to 6ft 3in. I'm 5ft 6in and also have small ankles but the sm/lg is too small! For perspective, my ankle only measures 8 inches but it's still too tight! I believe that this brace works, and my Achilles pain feels better when I force it on. But it either cuts off my circulation or the velcro pops off cuz it's too tight. since it’s not cheap, I hate to spend more $ purchasing the larger one. But I think I may give it a try. I just hope I can help others get the right size. I can’t imagine the sm/lg fitting anyone unless your ankles are a good amount smaller than 8 inches. Hope this helps.

You can't return this item, so beware before you purchase. The only sizing guide offered is under 6'3" tall should order S/L, over 6'3" order XL. This is pointless information. I am 5'8" and wear a size 7.5M shoe. I ordered S/L (yes, small/large, not small/medium, as that size isn't offered). I have a high arch and small ankle (8.5")-- this means that in order to properly secure the part that goes around my ankle, the strap that goes under the arch has to go on top of the end of the ankle strap which doesn't work because it's half on and half off. If I pull the arch strap over one way or the other to avoid it attaching to the ankle strap, it is way too tight on my arch. I wish I hadn't trusted a product that didn't offer proper sizing guidelines and it non-returnable. I tried to attach the arch strap lower, so it was only attached about 1/2" onto the strap that goes around the ankle, but that was terrible-- the rough velcro scratched the side of my ankle immediately. I wouldn't recommend this item. The seller should offer proper sizing such as ankle measurements and the distance of the arch strap from each side of the ankle under the arch.

I ordered the small/large size. It does fit, but just barely. I am only 5'2" so don't go by your height. The top of the package says in very small print "Thicker ankles use one size up." I don't consider my ankles to be thick, just average, so make your decision on size accordingly.

I am struggling with an Achilles tendon that slides over a bone spur which is not only shreds the tendon but the tendon wants to move sideways away from the bone spur. I'm on my feet all day and after six weeks in a boot and the tendon pretty much healed I would then step over something or somehow stretch the damn thing and be back in the stupid boot!! 17 months I've been doing this until I found this little brace. EUREKA I've been out of the brace for three weeks. This particular brace has a groove like thing in the back that helps hold the tendon where it's supposed to be. Plus it reminds me to not stretch that ankle. I cant say enough. I do use heel gel packs to help keep the tendon loose. But I'm thrilled. My foot doctor has also said these are excellent and he ordered six for his patients to try. These with the tendon groove were first started by Kobe Bryant who also struggled with this Achilles condition. These changes my life and have given me hope that I will eventually have full recovery.

It has taken me a couple of tries to see if this would help my Achilles when running. I have achilles tendinopathy which I’m working with a physio to delicately manage. The first time I put this on it just hurt my achilles, I couldn’t even try running in it. The second time I tried it running. It felt better to start with, but I had to remove it after 5km as both Achilles became very painful. The pain immediately eased after removing them. If you want to try this, they feel much better over a thick sock. If you have a thick Achilles it may not work for you.

Didn't help much. I think my ankle was far worse than I thought. I bought another one with more strength to help.

Best support out there. This is a hard item to find but worth every dollar. This brace provides excellent support and has made such a difference with the miles of running I do.
