After brewing can I turn off machine by pushing brew button?

Yes, When I push the "Brew Now" button to start brewing, the button lights up and stays on during and after brewing. When I push the button a second time, the light goes out and the machine is turned off.

Why after just 2 weeks it stopped working ?

First one died in less than 3 months, its new replacement just died in one year...JUNK.

Does the dot light next to the time indicate am or pm?

To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage on its cord and if there's none, try unplugging the coffee brewer and let it rest for 3-5 minutes. Plug the unit into a different wall outlet and see if it will work. Do not use it with any extension cords, power strips, and power converters or inverters as it may affect the coffee maker's performance.
