SYLVANIA - 9005 SilverStar - High Performance Halogen Headlight Bulb, High Beam, Low Beam and Fog Replacement Bulb, Brighter Down Road with Whiter Light (Contains 2 Bulbs)

The item listing said it would not fit my 2022 Chevy Malibu even though it has the same socket. I bought them anyway, and they worked. I think that is just something that Amazon needs to work out. Just be sure to look at your manual for your bulb and it will work. Anyways, the lights are great (9005 are my high beams. I didn’t take a picture of them, but they work great). I just installed them today, so I cannot vouch on the longevity of the bulbs. But, these bulbs function just like the stock halogen bulbs but are much whiter and brighter. I initially installed LED bulbs but did not like the scattered beams of light, so I came back to halogen bulbs. I think that for the mid-tier bulbs offered by this company, these are a great option that won't break the bank while still being very bright.

THESE ARE THE BRIGHTS. Very easy to install ,well as easy as the factory bulbs. Very happy with the outcome the light are not as bright white as LEDs but are very close they are a huge improvement over the factory bulbs. Driving at night the lights reach around 7 or 8 houses down the road and the full width of the street and the middle of the trees. during the day they have a slight ting of cream color but at night they are bright white.

These bulbs are very good. Driving at night is a pleasure with the bright white light. I originally bought these just prior to a solo cross-country drive from Oregon to West Virginia. They were so bright that as I got tired, I had to go to low beam because the lighted area was so bright. That is the upside. The downside is that I have had very poor survival for the bulbs. They seem to burn out quickly. I finally decided to buy a second set so that I could have a spare set in the truck with me all the time. That way, when they burn out I can swap in a new bulb and send the original in for its warrantee replacement. They are not convenient, but they are the best I've ever driven with.

The headlights were as described and now that they have been installed they give off plenty of white light for rural roads whether high or low beams. I installed these headlights on a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback Premier with projection headlights. The headlights that came with the car are Sylvania 9005 SL Silverstar and the ones I purchased are Sylvania 9005 ST Silverstars. I replaced both headlights even though only one had went out. I highly recommend these headlights. Only time will tell if they last 7 years like the ones that came with the car.

9005 should be the bulb for the "high-beam" position on your headlights (9006 is the one for the low-beam position), and the light provided by these "SilverStar" bulbs it is substantially whiter/brighter, with greater depth of illumination, than the "standard" Sylvania bulb of the same size/configuration. The whiter/brighter the light coming from your headlights, the more detail your eyes can pick up in everything the light reaches as you drive. I used the standard bulbs for many years, and just finally decided I wanted to try the brighter ones. I like this solution because it requires no modification of my car's OE ... just different bulbs in the OE headlamp assembly. So far, I'm very pleased with the difference, and consider these "SilverStar" bulbs well worth the extra money. With that said, I agree with the reviewer who said there probably isn't enough difference between this "entry level" SilverStar bulb, and the "Ultra" to justify the added cost for the latter. I didn't use rubber gloves to install them, but only because I had no trouble removing them from the blister packaging and putting them into my particular headlight assembly (2001 Chevy Suburban) without touching any part of the metal base or bulb surface. If your particular application/car makes touching of these surfaces more likely when you're installing them, then use the gloves. I guess only time will tell how long they'll last, but I think they'll last at least as long as they're rated (about a year), and probably a lot longer than that for me, because I think I do less night driving than most people.

Well, the light output is definitely whiter than the OEM bulbs, but of course they are not as white as LED. They are good for high beam lights and the blue-ish bulb glass looks nice in the lamp housing. Something to note: If the high beams are also the DRL (like in Honda or Toyota vehicles) they will look slightly, very slightly, whiter than the OEM in DRL mode, but won't be as white as when the light is on at full voltage. In case you are looking for a white DRL, you gotta use LED like the Philips Ultinon Essential (I have them in my low beams). No halogen bulb, even the PIAA Ultra White, will look really white in DRL mode.

I ordered this August of 2024. It is bright, works well, doesn't flicker, but it was a little annoying to install. However, that is an issue with my car. It is now July 2025 and one of them has burnt out. Maybe these headlights don't last as long as ordinary headlights, but it seems like they should last longer than 11 months.
