When we busted these open, I was a little shocked/surprised that they were plastic (got them as a Cyber Monday deal and did not really look into it lol).My 6 year old loves to help me in the kitchen, and my 2 year old loves to do whatever her sister does.These are not sharp, but have a nice serrated edge, that will get the job done once you teach how to use a sawing/circular motion.I loved these for the fact that I don't have to literally hold their hands, as I do with a metal blade. My kids want to do it all by themselves (particularly the 2 year old), and this takes a great deal of finger-slicing worry away.I wanted something that would help the initial learning and basics of chopping/cutting.We've cut onions and bell peppers (not an easy task, but again, gets the job done!) and chicken (which was super easy).I'd definitely recommend these for anyone who wants to start their insistingly independent kiddos in the kitchen with something that won't hurt them.

Great idea for a young child to hone their creativity and skills for cooking.

I bought these as a gift for my 8 year old daughter who is very into cooking and baking so she could have her own set. The set itself is nice and probably great for a slightly younger child who is just starting out using a knife to chop or cut. The knives do not work very well when she wants to help me cut vegetables. Very rigid cuts and she ends up just using one of my knives. Nice set, just not what I was really wanting in the purchase.

My four-year-old grandson loves this set. He uses them to chop fruit and vegetables when he’s cooking with his mother. They work well on softer things. Apparently cutting celery is a challenge. I have not seen the set myself, but my daughter reckons it is a good beginning for a small child.

The knives and cutting board themselves are awesome for kids, the only thing I dont like is that it has a long curved part at the top of the handle where the blade connects and you would normally wrap your finger around to grasp a knife properly, but you cant because of the shape of the handle. My daughter had a hard time holding it but overall it a great introduction to cooking for kids

My 7 year old nephew loves to help in the kitchen and after several anxiety attacks over him using a real knife, I bought him this knife set to use. Sturdy design, easy to use and less worry from the adults. Win-win-win!

Knives do not cut well at all! I bought these so my daughters could learn to cook safer than using regular knives. We just use regular knives anyway, because these knives do not work! The rest of the set is cute and cutting boards work well.

My 6 year old and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. He is at the age where he is truly interested. This was the perfect set. He was able to cut all the veggies for our chicken dish and had fun doing it.
