Q: I am having trouble with this unit and Rainbird anti-siphon valves, does the unit have enough power to turn on the solenoid on these valves?

It does not and they do not tell you it only works with 12 volt solenoids, not the standard 24 volt solenoids that come with hardwired valves. I find it deceptive, and they know this is an issue.

Q: When operating a remote set of valves, can you use a one wire common return ground as Hunter does?

Each latching solenoid pairs with a set of leads from the controller. There is no common wire like that used in 110v controller/24v solenoid set up. This controller operates as promised, just waiting to see how it goes through a wet winter.

Q: How long a battery would last?

If you use a good industrial strength alkaline battery it should last a season or 2. Be sure to remove the battery over winter when you bring the timer inside.

Q: Does this galcon dc controller work with orbit's dc solenoid?

This timer has its own soleniod. I recommend replacement of same brands if the solenoid has gone out.
