"that's not a knife... THIS is a knife!"
"that's not a knife... THIS is a knife!" I get visions of Crocodile Dundee pulling this knife out. This is a very good looking knife with a very outdoorsy design. I found it certainly sharp to cut meat and filet fish. That said, I feel like it should only be using this outdoors but that is obviously up to you. lol At first I looked at the sheath it comes with and thought that this looks cheap - and indeed the sheath looks very cheap. I was afraid I'd cut myself with the knife in the sheath - but the sheath has a liner inside that prevents the sharp blade from cutting the sheath itself. Your knife is buttoned down tightly. I don't think I will be looping this thing on my belt however. The knife is decently made. What I really like is that the blade metal extends throughout the entire handle. That is, it's not just a slap of metal that is attached to the end of a handle. The handle is two polished wooden slaps that sandwich the blade. It gives the knife a good weight and feel. To me, it's often an indicator that the knife wasn't cheaply constructed. The knife itself is not balanced and the blade itself is heavier than the handle portion. That's fine - you're not throwing this knife are you? O.o I found the blade to be sharp. I mean it didn't cut through an edge of paper like a razor, but it cuts through beef and salmon very well.... and salmon skin, too. The design of the blade is supposed to prevent sticking of the meat to the blade but I'm not so sure it made a difference to me. My cuts are usually thick and sticking to the blade is not an issue for me. If you are outdoors camping and cooking - this fits right in. If you're home, it's fun to use too, but you might already have a kitchen blade. But if you want to do it in style, this blade fill that in. As far as durability - it's hard to judge that at this point, but given the design of the blade and the handle, I do feel that this blade certainly has the potential to be a very durable blade that will last for many years. As far as the sheath is concerned, I do wish the sheath was of better quality. It does look cheap and doesn't match the aesthetic of the knife itself. The color and feel of it just screams cheap. It's a good thing that this doesn't affect the quality of the blade, however.

Great purchase!!!
A friend recently got me into buying forged knives and I came across this one and I loved it. It reminded me of an old butcher knife that my grandmother used to have. It was an excellent price point and great value. I’m very happy with this purchase and the added benefit is that everyone who comes over for dinner notices it and it becomes the topic of conversation for several minutes.

More of a Novelty Knife
Out of the box this knife is not very sharp. Didn't pass the paper test at all. You would want to sharpen it before first use, which is pretty lame. This isn't a knife I would use on food even though it is marketed as a butcher knife and a kitchen knife. Funny they call it a butcher knife and then say that you shouldn't use it to cut bones. This knife is made from 5Cr15MoV which they call high carbon steel. That is not a high carbon steel. It is a fairly cheap steel used for inexpensive kitchen knives. It works just fine and has good corrosion resistance but requires frequent sharpening because it isn't as hard as higher priced steel types. This comes with a scabbard that is worse than useless. Thin, cheap fake leather to start off with. When I put the knife in the scabbard it was a tight fit to the point that the knife actually cut the thread along the seam which means that the blade is exposed. You might not realize that it is exposed and accidentally cut yourself if you actually use the scabbard for this "butcher" knife. If they simply didn't market this as a butcher/kitchen knife and just called it what it is, a novelty knife, then my review would be much more positive.

I truly enjoyed using this knife. It cuts smooth and easy. Really makes my cooking in the kitchen go by a lot easier. I also enjoy how pretty it is but maybe that's the girl in me lol
