Moultrie 30-Gallon Deer Feeder Tripod

This is really great to have in our backyard where we have a lot of deer traffic. This is an incredibly well built feeder that looks good, works great, and the assembly was a piece of cake. It's super easy to use. This can hold four 40lb bags of corn up to 200lbs which is awesome! The bluetooth connectivity is solid. We can connect to it from about 40ft away inside our home. Initially, I could connect to but not enter the device so I called customer support and they were able to tunnel in and perform a reset to make it work. That was great! Use this feeder exclusively for corn. Otherwise, if it's smaller than corn, it will pour right out, and if it's something like fortified cottonseed, it will jam up the delivery system. With corn, the only time corn leaks out is if it's pulled out by the deer. It would be great if there was a screen on the delivery device that allows the corn to sling out, but prevents the deer from getting their tongue in there. That's minor though. Side note - squirrels have caught on and hang out with the deer. We have had so much fun with this feeder. We aren't hunters and we are mindful of providing an unlimited food source, which could force a bit of population growth, but we only have been feeding times twice daily with 6 second spins to give these guys a snack on their way by.

Magnificent feeder. 2 seasons strong and it’s amazing. Programming with app is simple, the feed estimator is precise and the fact it takes AA batteries is a winner. It shoots corn at a great distance. One thing I recommend is to either buy a cage yo prevent deer from licking the spinner or get some chicken wire and zip ties to make your own. Since it only goes up about 6 feet the spinner is right there for deer and raccoons to get their tongues all over and gum it up. There are videos on this. Only downfall is the lid doesn’t screw on and there is no locking mechanism. The raccoons did climb up in there and had a party. I just placed a flat rock on top and it solved the situation. It’s easy to make a mechanism if you are mildly creative. But overall this is the best feeder I have ever owned.

I bought this deer feeder for my mother as a Christmas gift, and it turned out to be one of the best gifts I've given her. I’ve been using this feeder for about 2 years now, mainly for seasonal deer feeding. Installation was straightforward, and when it’s operating correctly, it performs very well and is reliable for scheduled feeding. That said, I did run into occasional issues where the timer would stop triggering the feed cycle even though the battery and feed levels were fine. I wasn’t able to pinpoint the exact cause, but replacing the battery seemed to resolve the issue each time it happened. One other thing I noticed is that the feed doesn’t always disperse as far as I expected. Because of that, mature deer seemed a bit cautious and didn’t consistently approach it right away. Overall, it works as intended most of the time and is easy to set up and maintain, but there are a couple of quirks that are worth being aware of if you’re planning to use it regularly.

My husband loves this feeder. We have other brands that do the job but aren’t as good as this one. The lid actually screws on this one the others we have it doesn’t. It’s not as tall which is awesome for refilling and it doesn’t throw the corn a half mile away from feeder into weeds. Holds 4 bags of corn we buy with easy very sturdy didn’t wobble one time. Very easy to use and refill and set up. Takes regular batteries and has place to clip and connect cameras. Thick plastic and made good! Solid black and so far no squirrels have messed with the actual feeder but I’m sure they are at the buffet on the ground (

Product was delivered as promised , easy to follow assembly instructions and set up. Clock and timer easy to program for very satisfied with quality and product for the money. Thank you

Easy to use looks great easy to install however, I recommend getting the guard around what’s coming out the deer figure out really quickly that they can just tap it and it releases immediately squirrels seem to just climb up on it and it also releases easily guard a must sold separately

DO NOT BUY! There is planned corporate obsolescence in the design as deer can free feed from hopper due to shorter height, presumably to aid in hopper filling, but the intentional drop of the varmint guard cannot be overlooked. Moultrie has been in business of making feeders a long time with older versions of them having the varmint guard, that would keep animals from free feeding but they took it away on this model. Hmmm? Wonder why. It’s so they can upsell you on additional legs, priced at $30 a piece, upping the price tag per unit an additional $90 per feeder to restore the timed efficacy for feeding from this model. I bought 3 of these feeders before discovering this design flaw. I called moultrie to explain this problem to them and all they would offer, even after escalation within the team -saying the height of the feeder is clearly outlined in the specifications, was a 30% discount coupon, which is an intentional upsell of $189 before tax and shipping for me from a planned design flaw that I called them out on and said I’m not playing along in their customer milking strategy. I will never do business with Moultrie again and you can take this information and use it however, just know what you’re getting yourself into if you decide to do business with this company.

Works well, batteries last all winter and it holds a lot of corn. It’s a good deal here on Amazon compared to sporting goods stores. The only downside is that you need to buy the guard or else the animals eat right from the spreader and their saliva can freeze the unit up. Raccoons are able to reach the spreader and eat from the unit too so the guard protects from that.

For a cheap feeder it is well designed. Timed feeders can be problematic in the extreme cold and I'm sure this one will be too. Will probably buy or build a gravity feed tube for it.
