I've already got my license, but wanted a study guide to brush up on certain elements (like possible new regs, etc). I can say that this is an excellent study guide for those studying for the Technician Class license, or those like me that want to get back into the hobby after several years.

This book is organized by logical areas of content for the chapters, with all of the sub-elements of the Technician class Amateur Radio License exam tested in Chapter 10. Within each chapter, there are sections of specific points of content. At the beginning each of these sections are the questions from the exam question pool. Also, the answers to the questions are noted in bold within the text! This makes learning the material and studying for the exam a lot easier! You can test yourself after each short section to see if you understood the material. You can test yourself in Chapter 10 to see how well you might do on the actual exam. Also, the chapters match the chapters on the ARRL's website with the exam questions, so if you score poorly in one chapter, the ARRL website can let you know that, and you can go back to that chapter in this manual and study again. I have found the manual to be well-written, also! The concepts are presented bit by bit. There's a LOT to learn, so this is helpful, being broken down into smaller chunks this way. Highly recommend it. Kudos to the people who wrote and organized this book.

This has everything you need to know for the exam. I wish it had a bit more detail to help link some concepts together --- particularly in chapters 6 and 8, the actual "ham radio" chapters (as opposed to the physics of radio). (Right? Explanations make it a bit easier to learn, as opposed to just memorizing answers). Nevertheless, a welcome and necessary companion to online practice tests, and the book *does* have "for more information" pages. The paper isn't the highest quality — a step-up from newsprint — but given that the content isn't detailed enough to be a full-time reference guide, that's probably OK.

This book is extremely informative. And contains all the necessary information you'll need to pass the test and get your license as a technician! It also has a lot of information about various Ham activities and background. It educates on various levels on becoming a Ham. Worth the price and time to ready.

Very good manual. However, Amazon completely ignored by delivery instructions, which were very simple. We will, see how the next delivery goes. This basic lack of customer care, makes me simply want to go to the store and buy what I need, which I can easily do.

After many years of thinking about it, but putting it off, I finally decided to try for my Technician Ham license. I have enrolled in a class from my local Ham club and this book was the required textbook. The class in not for a month or so, but I decided to get it early and start reading. After going through the first 4 chapters, I think I could pass the test without taking the class. The authors put in a great deal of work into making it easy to learn about the subjects with an eye on you passing the exam. The actual test questions and answers are in the back of the book. Which is fine. But what the Amazon listing does not explain is they way the information is presented. At the beginning of each section, they put the questions that would be covered in that section. If you can answer the questions before going through the section, then you can skim or skip the section. Within the section itself, the question number is printed in bold text within square brackets right after the part that answered that question. It is like someone highlighted the book and took notes for you. Sure, you could just memorize the questions and answers. But the whole purpose is to learn the subject and be able to apply them. If you want prepare for the test on your own, this book is the way to do it.
