2" Basket Strainer Drain for Copper Bar Sink

We purchased this strainer/drain for our bar sink to replace the first one we ordered, which had a plastic flange (the "tail" that goes under the sink) that stripped out when I tried to tighten down the drain with the threaded metal rod.This body of this strainer/drain is all metal - very high quality. The finish isn't a perfect match for our sink's hammered copper / oil-rubbed bronze finish, but matches just as well or better than the others I have seen. My wife was happy with it, so I'm happy with it. From the picture, I thought the finish was more textured than it is; it is actually rather smooth, which is probably a good thing.The basket strainer is very deep and large for a 2" drain - perfect for catching lemon/lime wedges and other assorted drink garnishes. The base of the basket is solid, so no drink straws or other thin objects can sneak through easily.The description on Amazon is incorrect - this drain actually can act as a stopper and hold water. When I first installed and tested it, the sink filled up, which confused me (what the heck did I do wrong?!). It took me a minute to figure out that the position of the basket's handle dictates whether it stops the water or drains - move it to one side it acts as a stopper, move it to the other side and the water drains. Simple, elegant design. There are no markings on it to indicate which way is which, but it's not hard to figure it out by running a little water.The only negative is that it does not include any instructions - not a problem for me since I know how to install a sink, but for anybody who isn't experienced, it may cause some anxiety. I guess if you are ordering this online, you can figure out how to search for and find general instructions on installing a sink drain. In case you can't find them:1. Completely disassemble all the drain parts, noting the order in which they were placed on the strainer/drain.2. Install a generous bead of plumber's putter on the underside of the finished drain (press it down to cover the entire underside), then and drop the drain into the sink hole; press down to seat the drain and squeeze out some of the putty from around the entire edge.3. From the underside of the sink, remove any excess putty that was squeezed out, then place onto the tail the rubber gasket, the cardboard washer, and the thin nut. Hand tighten on the under side of the sink, then take a large wrench (~2" jaws required) and tighten it a bit more (you will need to put a drain wrench, screwdriver, or something else down the drain from the top to keep it from spinning with the nut). Remove any excess putty.4. Place the drain's tailpiece (PVC or metal tube with the flange on top) through the bottom (thick) nut and place the smaller rubber gasket on top of the tailpiece's flange; place the tailpiece against the bottom of the drain's tail and tighten the nut (again be sure the drain doesn't spin with the nut or the putty may get gaps in it).5. Attach the P- or S-trap to the tailpiece and connect to the drain.6. Place a paper towel under the drain, then run some water in the sink to test it. Don't forget to try moving the basket strainer's handle back and forth. No drops on the paper towel = success!Overall, this strainer/drain is an excellent product at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended.

This product is not flimsy l8ke some others. It is a nice muted copper color.

Got this to match the bar sink we purchased from the same company. We installed it ourselves a couple months ago with a little plumber's putty without issues. It works great--no leaks and it blends well with the sink since they are made by the same company. Nice purchase for a bar or prep sink.
