Thermostat works!
We had a useless gas flame fire - unreliable and expensive servicing. It was actually the gas engineer who recommended one of these and we haven't looked back. It is just as attractive, efficient at heating to your required temperature then switches off when that's reached. However, the flames still keep that cosy effect for the room.

It is larger than my old electric fire
The media could not be loaded. This fire is so lovely. The flames are fantastic and so cosy looking.Different levels of flame with the remote. It's flat backed so no need of a recess. It's quite wide and high.Much bigger than my old dimplex fire but I love it.I think the video says it all, plus its cheap too.£50 cheaper than B and Q...Enough said....Oh and no noise at all.Easy to put up, just plug it in, put the coal on.Iv not put the heat on as I only wanted it for the flames, the look, the cosy feeling.

It's good but
I got this from the Amazon warehouse and it was delivered yesterday and it was a returned item. The description said the original box was damaged but the box was butchered. But it was delivered two days early so that's a good point. That was my first problem. At first when I plugged it in it was very quiet with just the fire effect running. But after a few hours with just the fire effect running it gradually started getting louder and that random squeak which some people have shown in their video clips started. This can be fixed by taking it apart and putting axle grease on the two plastic bearings inside. When Dimplex make these fires I would suggest they put some sort of silicone or rubber damper between the chassis and the motor that turns the rotisary with pieces of foil on it with the light shining on it which simulates the flames. This would reduce the hum from the motor. This doesn't bother me much because I wear noise cancelling headphones but I can still kind of heat that squeak with the noise cancelling enabled. My next minor gripe is the way the flame effect is simulated. What I'm seeing is not properly random. When you watch it for a few seconds and when you know how it works you will see the flame effect looping / repeating every few seconds. There's an arm attached to a motor which rotates. This arm has foils on it which a light shines on then that reflects onto the back of the fireplace simulating flame. What it looks like is every 180 degrees they have the foils lined along at a straight line from left to right and the whole way acrosd making the flame go the full height of the fire. They should have put those at different places making them look more random which would make it a bit more realistic.I don't think my one is covered by a warranty so I'm going to have a look and see if I can rotate some of those foils a very small bit at different angles. Also there's a few light brightness with this. There's high , medium and low. There's also pulsating light effect BUT this effect is not described as to what it does. The pulsating effect isn't making the flame effect pulsating. With pulsating enabled the flame effect is full bright. I'll tell you what pulsating does next...There's also a light you can turn on to light the coals. This light is where the fan blows. There's two led lights up there shining downwards. When you turn on pulsating it's this light that flickers which simulates a fire effect on the coals and on the floor in front of the fire.It would have been a lot better if the fire effect actually pulsated and the orange light under the coals too.Turning on the blue flame effect is great though and this looks very random. It's a far better effect than the yellow flame. If they could make the main flame effect very like the blue flame effect and a bit more random it would make it more cozy.I don't need the heater in this so I can't comment on that. I just needed a fire because the council removed my fireplace nearly two years ago and I missed having a fireplace.I know Dimplex used to make fire surrounds but I haven't found them available anywhere. I just want a wooden fire surround with a black effect. It's not all bad. I've had a cheap model fire and the fire effect in it was a lot worse and the motor noise was way worse. This is a decent fire I'm just disappointed that the fire effect isn't more random and not like a fire gig set on repeat.

Very realistic fireplace
Lovely electric fireplace. Installation was very simple (just prop against the fireplace wall, and plug it in!). The electric fire is very realistic, and with a beautiful colour. There are various settings to have a stronger or a more glowy fire, and it can also heat up on a cold day.

Looks good and easy to use.
Loved the look which can be flame effect only, so looks good even in summer it can be put on a cold flow only or heat in winter. Makes the room looks cozy. Definitely value for money.

Cheriton deluxe optiflame
Optiflame deluxe resale .Good reduction for a returned item which is 100% sound. The only fault being a missing connecting cable which I was able to replace for a fiver. It was also a different colour to what I had ordered it should have been chrome but I received a brass one. However it is still a bargain and the brass looks lovely in my room . The changing ,bright flickering flame effect is superb and no problem with noise.I worried about buying a returned item but I'm very satisfied with this lovely fire.

DO NOT PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BREAKDOWN COVER FOR THIS FIRE ON AMAZON
I bought this electric flame effect fireplace on Amazon UK on 19th November 2023.I also bought a 3 year extended warranty and breakdown policy at the same time. The appliance developed a fault at the beginning of December 2024. I reported this to the insurance provider London General Insurance. But don’t be fooled. The actual cover is outsourced to a third party, Bubble, and they are nowhere near London. At first they were going to arrange a local repairer and if it was not repairable arrange a replacement, all good so far. Then advised they didn’t have a local repairer on their network. This is where it gets messy. They asked me to find a local authorised repairer, obtain a quote, if it was £192 or less I could proceed with the repair. But I had to pay the repairer directly and seek a refund from the insurer.Problem is the manufacturer doesn’t have an authorised repairer in Central Scotland.I reported the issue to Amazon who had it sorted with one phone call and arranged a replacement in five days time. Now that’s customer care.
