Great machine once you know what you’re doing!
If you know nothing about sewing, embroidery, etc. then this machine is what you need. There is literally directions all over this machine to show you what to do. You can even view built in directions on the touch screen. Even the pictured button light up green for good and red for bad. It also has built in safety features that don’t allow you to embroider if things aren’t in the right place (besides the bobbin; learned that the hard way).I will say that I have never even used a sewing machine. So, it’s has been about one month since I ordered the machine. I had to learn a lot. Never knew what a bobbin was, presser foot, etc. so I have nothing to compare this machine to.With that in mind, give yourself time to learn. I made plenty of mistakes and had 3 shirts I tested on, over and over. Be patient and learn as you go. Once you get the hang of it, you will love the results!Lastly, if you’re unable to spend another $50-$100 when you buy this machine, I would wait. You will need to order separate materials like colored thread, stabilizer (backing paper), tiny scissors, practice fabric (please do not use a nice shirt until you have multiple successful tests) and possibly, a subscription to the Brother design system. I ended up not using this designer but I still had to pay for it for the month. As a crafter, being able to embroider makes me so happy! I never thought it would be possible!

Great Machine
We just started using this, but so far we are really happy. It almost threads itself. We are beginners and were worried about threading it. We watched a video on Brother’s website and it was so simple! Haven’t embroidered anything yet. We have more videos to watch before that. But it makes sewing really easy.

Received broken, no one wants to help.
I am writing this review with immense disappointment and frustration regarding my recent experience with the Brother sewing machine I purchased in April 2023. Due to some unexpected family emergencies, I was unable to unbox the machine until August 2023, at which point my troubles began.Upon attempting to use the sewing machine, I encountered a critical issue – the needle broke on my very first attempt. After investigating further, it became evident that the presser foot holder was crooked and bent, rendering the machine unusable. I was shocked and dismayed by the poor craftsmanship of the product.Seeking assistance, I promptly reached out to Brother's customer service, hoping they would address the defect in their product. Unfortunately, my hopes were quickly dashed as I encountered an unhelpful and indifferent attitude from their representatives. To my disbelief, they not only refused to provide assistance but directed me to a sewing machine retailer for resolution. The situation only worsened when I approached the recommended retailer with the hopes of getting the warranty honored and obtaining a replacement part. Regrettably, their response mirrored Brother's, as they outright dismissed my concerns and refused to honor the warranty for a product that had a glaring manufacturing defect. Their solution? "You have a warranty, ship it back!". Contacted Brother again only to get the same response as before. This lack of accountability and customer support was utterly disheartening.Seeing no other option, I escalated the matter to Amazon, the platform through which I had made the purchase. I anticipated that Amazon's renowned customer service would come to my rescue, but to my astonishment, I was met with a similar level of apathy. They, too, were unresponsive to my plea for assistance and failed to uphold the integrity of the transaction. It is profoundly disappointing that in a situation where all I needed was a single replacement part to rectify a manufacturing flaw, I have been met with a wall of indifference and non-cooperation. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating, time-consuming, and emotionally draining. I entrusted my hard-earned money to Brother, the sewing machine retailer, and Amazon, only to be left high and dry with a defective product and no avenue for resolution.I strongly caution anyone considering purchasing a Brother sewing machine based on my nightmarish experience. Not only is the product quality questionable, but the abysmal customer service provided by both Brother and the involved retailers is inexcusable. As a consumer, I deserve better treatment and support, and I hope my review serves as a warning to others about the potential pitfalls of dealing with these companies.

Great for Beginners & Intermediate Sewists
I'm relatively new to sewing and wanted to learn how to personalize our blankets/towels with embroidery. I bought the SE700 because I loved my SE600 so much (I'm only replacing the 600 with this model because my old machine fell off of the table and messed up the alignment and walking foot contraption.Pros: it's heavy duty, threads itself with a lever pull, does embroidery AND sewing fairly easily, and is ideal for people like me who are learning the craft at a beginner level. Seriously, the power of the embroidery feature is so fun that I jokingly tell people I want to embroider toilet paper now.Cons: artspira (the brother embroidery app) is not as awesome as the machine itself. It takes easily 3-4 tries with each item before I can get the embroidery feature to work in the way I want it to. I finally found moderate success by removing the background in one app before uploading the chosen image to Artspira. It's disappointing that the 4x4" design space limits my projects as much as it does. I don't know if I'd pay the extra $3-400 for a larger embroidery space, but if I keep up the current pace with my projects I may have to set some money aside to invest in a sewing machine with a 5x7" space to embroider. The machine's threading feature can take a few attempts depending on how finicky it is that day.Unsolicited advice: get the most out of this machine by ordering a magnetic embroidery hoops & a sturdy walking foot. The magnetic hoop made going from project to project EASY & it feels like cheating because I can embroider my proverbial toilet paper with a pull of a lever and a touch of the green button. That's it. The addition of the after market walking foot solved the problem of projects going crooked as it sews, resulting in items that had hems all over the place.
