I tried True Nutrition beef protein isolate and it was awful. Didn't mix well & the taste was gag-worthy. BulkSupplements checked of my list of adequate protein per serving, minimal ingredients and possibly the best price to weight ratio I've found. I was apprehensive as there were many complaints on this product but I was pleasantly surprised. It mixes well, has minimal taste (I bought unflavored) and has had no adverse effects on my stomach. I tried it for the first time today (12/16/2025). Package lot number is 2505806. Hopefully whatever the issues were have been sorted because I'm very pleased with this.

I have been very happy with Bulk Supplements products over the years and I am still a regular customer. Also, this particular protein powder is radically different from other beef protein isolate powders on the market. I only ordered the Bulk Supplements version because the stuff that has been working so well for me was out of stock at the time (and Bulk Supps stuff had never shown up in my recommendations until I went searching for an alternative). I was also so accustomed to being happy with Bulk Supplements powders etc in the past, that I bought a 1kg bag with no hesitation. Oops. This stuff though, smells bad and tastes worse. It sort of looks like unflavored beef gelatin (coarsely ground and apx the same color) BUT beef gelatin powder IS actually unflavored, AND actually dissolves in water. The flavor of this protein powder reminds me of ground up hamburger that has been over done on on a grill along with a faint charred smell (and once blended the charred smell becomes a very noticeable taste). Oh and as far as protein powders go, this stuff actually messed with my entire digestive system worse than any whey or soy protein powders ever did. The only protein powder I have tried that smelled worse was Brown Rice protein.

I’ve been buying this for a couple years and consuming everyday. It’s been subtle in smell and taste when mixed into my morning coffee and I’ve loved the ease of digestion as I have significant gut issues. The last 3 shipments I’ve received came in a slightly smaller bag but then you open it and the air fills with a gross putrid smell that was never there before. The color has also changed and is more yellow and the true test it tastes like it smells! Cannot mask it and is literally not palatable. My stomach was grumbly and bloated after forcing down a 1/2 serving of my usual amount with coffee. Please go back to your original formula. I’m not sure what changed or why but I am no longer a loyal loving it customer and will not be buying this anymore.😥🤢

The smell is not pleasant. The flavor is strong like the smell. Blended with other ingredients to mask those & its the perfect clean protein powder. Have only belended in a Ninja not a shaker bottle so I cannot comment on texture when doing that method.

This is the worst chemical smelling stuff and the taste is even worse. Why does it leave a cheap vodka aftertaste ?Confirmed by 3 people too...changed my review to 5 star so maybe people will see it..

I have purchased this product in the past, and I never had a problem with it. In fact, I thought it was an incredibly useful and affordable product until recently. Right when you open the bag, you’re going to notice a very rancid smell that will permeate the room. Then when you’re dumb enough to consume it after smelling it, your stomach will rumble and the next morning you’ll have diarrhea. After reading some recent reviews, I can see that they have lowered the product quality, I will not be buying this ever again.

I've used this product before and it was fine. Tried it again, and got a rancid batch. Smelled bad, different than the first batch I bought and used. Tried it thinking maybe they had changed the recipe, but gave me severe GI issues. Contacted the company for a refund or replacement and they were not helpful. They offered to have me pay to ship back to them, and then a partial refund. I won't use this product again.

I’ve been buying this protein for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it; the macros are fantastic and unbeatable compared to any other protein powder for my goals. Yes it is an acquired taste, but when you have something big you’re working towards, the taste doesn’t and SHOULDN’T matter. However, the new batch I got smells absolutely putrid (more than usual) and is a completely different color and texture than any other bag I’ve previously bought…so much so that I’m actually afraid to ingest it.

It is helping in increasing my protein intake for weight loss goals. Super easy to add to everything, sweet or savoury, as it is tasteless and dissolves completely. Helps curb the appetite in between meals.

Don’t buy this product. Awful smell and taste disgusting. Not fit for human consumption. The worst part is, if you need to return this, you have to pay the postage to America ($40). That’s not worth. So save you money.
