Digital Painting Techniques, Vol. 3

I just finished this book yesterday. I had to purchase this book for a photoshop class i took last semester, the book wasn't related to the assignments it was more of a thing we could get and gain some extra insight from. However i never really read it until this last month and I really enjoyed the way you can gain the knowledge from the artists doing the drawings. The explanations aren't minutely specific, It more goes over the general practices the artist uses in photoshop. Although you will want some photoshop know how, because it won't always tell you how to do something, but more of that they are in fact doing something. Then the knowledge about how to do that thing is more up to you. Its hard to explain but here let me give an example. If i was doing one of the chapters I might go about how i set up some masks for a mountain range in the background. I won't say how to create a mask or what they do because I'm assuming the reader knows what a mask is in photoshop and if they don't than maybe this book is a few steps away than their readiness level. Overall I recommend the book it had some good art and I'm currently deciding which 3d total book i want to get next. I also have no idea how qucikly the info goes out of date because I'm using CS6 and it all still applies but I can't speak for volume 1 and 2 as I havent read them. But then again this one is from 2011 and its 2015 and its still good if you ask me.

This is basically a collection of tutorials that explain the finer points of digital art from scratch. Many of the techniques and skills are usable immediately and create very impressive results quickly. Great read, great examples, and amazing full page art (not too much, not too little. A perfect mix of instruction and examples).

This entire series is a must have for students and professionals. The techniques are very straight forward and pratical. They are easy to follow. I would like to have this published with a CD with the wiirk files. In the demos there are links to sites which offer downloads on the tutorials.

The product are fine, but the cover is peeling, with appearance of old. I don't wanna return, cause the shipping takes forever, and I wanna start read the book, right now, but its a shame, Amazon.

It's pretty in depth. If you're looking for something to teach you photoshop, then this isn't for you. Even with a small amount of knowledge on the software, this'll still help you immensely. A must buy for aspiring concept artists.

I'm fairly experienced in both traditional and digital art so I found this to have some, "Ah-ha, never thought of that" moments, but nothing profound. If you are totally new to digital art with no understanding of how to even work your program, how layers work, etc., this book will not be much help

Informative, well illustrated with examples, especially the photoshop pages. Could go into a bit more detail as to the hows rather than the whys, but in general I have found the book both intriguing and useful. I'll be looking at the companion volumes.

Questo libro è molto interessante, pieno di spunti ed esempi ben fatti. I tutorial sono notevoli e danno delle linee molto facili da seguire, il vostro lavoro, risulterà più semplice con risultati migliori!

Lo compré como regalo para alguien que ya usaba otros de la misma colección y le ha encantado. Toma como referencia el trabajo de artistas para mostrar el paso a paso y está en un inglés sin dificultad si ya lo hablas un poco. Ni que decir tiene que el acabado es impecable y agradable al tacto. Los tutoriales están detallados también en capturas de pantallas y facilita webs de descarga de recursos para cada trabajo. Muy buena colección para desenvolverse y aprender.

Questo libro è il terzo volume di una serie di libri edita dall'importante compagnia di art tutoring 3d total , il testo è costituito da una serie davvero nutrita di tutorial creati da professionisti nel settore dell'illustrazione provenienti da tutto il mondo che si pongono l'obiettivo di spiegare le più innovative tecniche di illustrazione digitale.Ogni tutorial è a se stante e cerca di sviluppare un determinato argomento sia con esempi passo passo che con argomentazioni più generiche, come dicevo le informazioni contenute sono davvero tante e spiegate in un modo davvero semplice e comprensibile, il testo e le varie sezioni sono piene di immagini ad alta definizione che servo da esempio per i concetti trattati ma anche per mostrare cosa si può arrivare a fare con una semplice tavoletta grafica e tanta passione.Che dire questa serie di libri mi è stata davvero utile e penso che qualunque appassionato di digital painting potrebbe imparare davvero molto leggendoli.Questo volume in particolare prende in analisi sopratutto la creazione di personaggi e creature immaginarie per il cinema e l'industria videoludica , vengono spiegate dettagliatamente le tecniche più rapide per ottenere immagini di sicuro effetto utilizzando Photoshop, Corel Painter, Art rage e altri programmi di digital painting e manipolazione delle immagini.Il livello delle informazioni in alcuni casi è davvero avanzato e a mio parere se non si ha un minimo di esperienza riguardo la pittura digitale non si riuscirà ad apprezzare a pieno il libro.Davvero non trovo nessun difetto in questo testo , tante informazioni esposte bene con criterio e con miriadi di immagini di esempio e a cui ispirarsi , secondo me questi volumi non possono mancare nella libreria di nessun appassionato o illustratore professionista .

I'm slowly getting into my digital art work, as I use to enjoy doing allot of art back in my school and college days. But the ideas and potential for what you can do in the digital art world now is just amazing. If you want inspiration or any possible ideas for good concept pieces, then you need to buy this book. It's a massive book and full of fantastic designs from various artists, and this includes examples as well as tutorials. Buy it, you'll love it.
