KIT:Visible Man Body

Bought this as an educational gift for a 13 year old. I also was given this as a gift for myself as a child (which I still own), but at that time the plastic model was made by Renwal in the 60's. It was a great learning tool and a joy to put together, as were my other planes and tanks, etc. It is a plastic kit so it does require time such as painting of the parts and assembly with a tiny bit of model glue. I completed the educational gift by purchasing the complementary Visible Woman also. Many model shops that sold these type of kits have disappeared over the years, but thankfully a search on the internet sourced them.

My son and I assembled the model over a few weeks, though it could be done in one or two sittings. Overall, it was pretty easy to follow the instructions, and the parts were readily identifiable. We didn't bother painting it, but we may do so later. It looks good and I think it was a very good learning tool for my son. We had fun putting it together!

This kit was missing two parts but the seller made good on it. You will need a modeling knife for sure, plastic glue and 5 or 6 diff. colors paint. Also a very small paint brush. Turned out great.

I had a similar model when I was a kid 30 years ago, and bought one for my daughter to spend some quality time with her. The quality of the model is very low -- The cuts for the various parts are not clean and there are left overs connected to them.- The parts do not fit. Starting with the second part of the model (the spine) - the parts just did not fit and we had very hard time gluing them together. That continued with more and more phases until we gave up.We actually could not finish building the model and gave up.

I got this product for my 6-year old grandson. I believe it will be useful for him to understand anatomy. However, you will need glue and several colors of paint to complete the contruction of this item. The plastic parts will need some cleaning of thin strip of plastic overflow in the molds. They parts, thus, do not seem high quality. The body does not go together well, especially the chest plate. Useful product, but definitely not high quality. Some assembly is definitely required.

Considering that the photo on the box shows the organs and veins in different colors, we were disappointed that they are in fact all beige, and there was no paint provided either. So now what? to do a few tiny little pieces, we have to buy several different colors of pain? Since the organs are not in fact pre-colored, at the very least, I would have expected a few little pots of paint to come with the kit.

The front is not just clear but opens. Plan to paint this. I will post photos after that. The blood viens detail is on the inside but the outside looks pretty well made, will be filling some seems for the paint. Left clear the seems should be very acceptable as the interior should excuse the envolope.

The only thing 'missing' was the paint to do color coding on the various parts, but I picked up some painting 'markers' and really like the end result. Easy to assemble, but LOTS of pieces--not for a child! Great for using in my EMT class reviews!
