Ever Ready First Aid Universal Aluminum Splint, 36 Inch Rolled – 3 Pack

I've carried one of these in my Scouting backpack for years. My strong recommendation is to unroll it flat, fold it to whatever length fits best, mold it to match to the curve of your spine, then stuff it down the back pocket as a comfortable stiffener to your pack. It weighs practically nothing, helps support the internal frame and is easily accessible if you ever have an emergency. It can be molded into several different configurations to splint a leg, an arm, even a temporary cervical collar if you know how.These generics get top ratings for value and function. I miss having the instructions printed on the foam, though (something I've only seen on the official SAM splints). Blank is fine for me because I've used them for years. They are a little less helpful for my Scouts who will have to use it when I'm the one with the broken leg.

I have trigger finger in my ring finger and pinky. This stabilizes them perfectly!

This is a solid aluminum splint for the money.Note that this not a SAM brand splint - it's the same basic concept however, and works well for the same situations. It feels a bit thinner than a SAM, but I'm not worried about performance, and you can always double it over or form a reinforced shape with it.The only other thing to be aware of is that (mine at least) did not come with directions of any kind. Again, don't let that discourage you: a quick Google/YouTube search will get you the information you need, and a video is probably more helpful than an illustration. Just take the time to learn to use the splint BEFORE you need it. Having the equipment is halfway prepared, knowing how to use it is the other half. Thanks for reading!
