Postwar Recordings 1944-1953

As much as I love the music of Django Reinhardt; I am appalled by the handling of the CD 💿 cases. Just to make it obvious to the folks of Amazon to label their music CD 💿 essentials fragile and to handle with care.

Good collection of his later music. Lots of clarinet, but that's very good too.I got this from my local library and enjoyed it. But I wanted to own a copy.

Prior to JSP's systematic chronicling of Reinhardt's complete recordings, there were many, many single and double disc overviews of his work, almost all of which focused on his earlier Hot Club recordings. There's a reason for this -- those early recordings are classics of small-combo swing and guitar jazz. However, that left these wonderful later experiments almost completely unavailable on CD. Django Reinhardt solo, recordings with small groups including both long-time collaborators and new, experiments with electric guitar and flirtations with the then-new style of bebop. Not every experiment works and some of the recordings sound like retreads of his prewar work, but there are many dazzling surprises here.If you have any interest in jazz guitar, small-combo swing, or Django Reinhardt himself, this set is well worth purchasing. You get 5 discs of music, most of which is unavailable elsewhere on CD, and including some of the most "different" sounding recordings in Reinhardt's discography, good remastering, detailed notes on recording dates and session musicians, for a reasonable price tag.

This is a tremendous compendium of Django's later work. The audio is really good and even the pitch has been standardized. The recordings range from small combo to big band renditions. This CD set is a great value. There is lots of material here for the Django enthusiast.

Django Reinhardt died way too young! This compilation of later (remastered) recordings gives insight into his stylistic development beyond his native Gypsy Swing. Listen especially to the last disc to hear Django riffing effortlessly on complex bebop lines.

Again, excellent conclusion to building a collection of Mr. Reinhardt's work. Solid copies from what exists today.

As a newcomer-fan of Django, I have developed an appetite for tasting the whole range of his musical genius. This set complements two other sets I bought, and fills out my experience of his work.

incroyable! The Prewar recordings are also incredible, but this set is as essential including ensemble journeys with some of the greatest jazz players ever, and different takes on the classics!

This is a good set of CD's which compares and contrasts the recordings of Reinhardt's late recordings until his all too early death

戦後から晩年までが収録されたものです。リマスターされているので、高音域の耳障りな感じや音程のずれが改善されています。（ただしノイズは残してある。）一応年代順に入ってはいますが、それぞれのディスクに入りきらなかった分が5枚目のディスクにボーナストラックという形で入っているようです。いつ、どんなメンバーと競演したかがきちんとかかれているので資料的価値もあると思います。スイングのギタリストから完全なビバップ系ギタリストへと変わっていくジャンゴ・ラインハルトが楽しめます。
