Easy assembly and effective
I am surprised by the reviews that say it’s hard to put together. I was able to do it very quickly with no issues. The product is effective in keeping squirrels off the feeder and also works as a weather shield for the feeder. I have it hanging above my feeder (as it hangs from a tree).

Seems to work. No squirrels coming from above ... but
I was having trouble with squirrels climbing/jumping from roof and gutters to the bird feeder on the hook below. I think this baffle stopped that from happening. The baffle was simple to assemble and hang from the hook. I just hung the feeder from the hook below the baffle. The NEXT PROBLEM is that the clever (and athletic) squirrels are running up the brick column and jumping on the feeder from below. So I ordered another baffle and I will figure out how to hang it from the bottom of the feeder.I hope it works.**UPDATE** I ordered a second baffle and hung it from the bottom of the feeder. So far, I have not seen a squirrel on the feeder. (But that may be because, the last time I saw a squirrel on the feeder, I "pinged" him with my BB gun. )

This baffle works well.
The squirrels can't get around the baffle.

Not slippery enough!
If a squirrel lands correctly they can bypass this barrier; unlikely as it seems they can get to the feeder. Metal might have been a better buy.

Does Its Job for a Great Price
The media could not be loaded. I’d originally planned on buying a metal baffle, but had a tight budget at the time. I’m glad I went with this plastic model instead. The plastic surface is too slick for squirrels to grip onto. If the plastic eventually wears out after a few seasons of Pennsylvania weather (which runs to extremes), I won’t be disappointed, because it’s already paid for itself in saved bird food!It stopped squirrels and mice from climbing the pole almost instantly — after a few tries, they just gave up, except for one case, and that failure was completely due to my own error. I’d originally used a simple garden shepherd’s hook for my feeders, which limited how high the baffle could be installed. One very enterprising squirrel who was obsessed with suet nuggets (and will even eat the hot pepper kind!) quickly discovered he could climb onto our AC unit (on the right in the photo), take a strong leap, and grab the pole above the baffle. I solved the problem by replacing the shepherd’s hook with an actual bird feeder pole, which is taller and allowed me to install the baffle several feet higher. Removing the baffle from the old pole and installing it on the new one was easy, and the new setup did the trick. When it comes to feeder placement, location is key! We’ve had a crazy winter and spring is shaping up to be the same, weather-wise, but this baffle has stayed put. It tilts in the wind, but it’s supposed to tilt anyway, to throw off critters who happen to grab it or land on it. Yesterday we had a day of mixed sun and snow squalls with wind gusts up to gale force, and it hung on and did its job — I took the attached video of a little cardinal who braved the wind to grab some lunch. All in all, I’m quite satisfied with this inexpensive solution.
