Can it test for both multi and single mode fiber? If i use it below 10KM cable, will it harm the cable?

I use it with SM cable - yellow I use it with MM cable - aqua & orange (san)

Can i bring it for travel/ on the plane?

If you are going to be testing Fiber lines, yes. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to take it in a carry on. I mean unless you plan on shining anyone, they'd be just as upset if it were a regular flashlight. The emitter isn't as strong as some of those pointer laser lights, still, probably not good to shine someone.
