Saved me a bunch of money in running an additional line
I am in the middle of attempting to add another camera and realized that I don't have the ability to run another cat6 cable from the network termination point. I did have a POE camera nearby and thought to myself that there HAS to be a way to split the cable and after some research, this happened. I'm very happy about it. I tested it out and no performance issue between the 2 cameras. the construction is kind of drab and boring, but who cares? it's going to sit in the network closet and it's not meant to be some statement piece so I can't be bothered to care about its looks. it works. That's all you need to know.

Yes, This
Make sure to note the connector (plug/socket) on the existing wiring and the new cable or device you plan to use them with. The splitters are available in every combination of plug -> socket, so it is easy to get the right one. It's just as easy to overlook and end up with a solution that won't work. Works great with all of my client's PoE cameras and 802.11af/at PoE switch (Nortel/Avaya 4850GTS-PWR, among others). YMMV for non-standard 12/24/48V PoE injectors or switches. These things are -all- totally basic. There is no magic in one that is not in another, so don't pay for others asking $15, $20 each — they are ALL THE SAME. We purchased a couple of Amazon Warehouse items returned by another customer... doubtless because "it didn't work" for them.

These work for PTZ cameras and will power and alternate device
I needed to change the power situation for a Sling studio cam link and a PTZ camera. This splitter allowed me to power both. I had already purchased a cat5 to mini usb adaptor but wasn't getting the power passed through is so I bought this splitter and it worked after playing around with it. I have a poe switch and connected the one side of the splitter to it. The other side was by the camera and camlink. I had to swap the connectors for it to pass data but it worked. Now I can power the cam link and the PTZ camera over cat5 with 1 cable. I used to use a rechargeable battery to run the cam link but that is no more. This things works great Not a lot of documentation but I was able to make it work

NOT for POE cameras.
These do NOT provide POE. They might work for just data, but they do not carry the power to your cameras. If you have a separate power source (like a wall art) for each camera, these might work for you.

Two POE cameras through a single cat 5 cable
I was pretty skeptical about this splitter. How can you run two POE camera signals through a single cat 5 cable? As I found out after some testing that at least for the Lorex system and cameras I have, one camera is utilizing only 4 of the 8 available wires for both Ethernet signal and POE. Specifically, orange stripe, orange, green stripe and green, or connectors 1,2,3,6, leaving the other 4 wires to be used for the second camera and POE port on your recorder. Remember if you play with this stuff that POE is up to 50v dc, plenty enough for a potentially dangerous shock! This set of splitters is a great value though if you already ran a length of cat 5 but want that second camera.

I used this adaptor to hook up two PoE cameras using just one network cable. I have absolutely no issues with my cameras sending data back to the NVR. If I ever need to add a camera to an existing network cable, I will for sure buy this again! 100% recommend this product. The picture I attached is two cameras using this Splitter cable.

I bought it to connect two Lorex cameras. It worked, but the main issue is that the product is not waterproof. Water can get inside, causing it to lose signal, and after a short time, the wires rust and it gets discarded. The connectors look very similar to the ones used with Lorex, but Lorex connectors are still good after more than a year, whereas this product didn't last even two months. If you use it indoors, it should work just fine.
