The Normcore 53.3mm Puck Screen is a simple, cost-effective upgrade that’s been well worth adding to my espresso routine. It fits perfectly in both of my 54mm portafilters — the stock Breville portafilter and my LILQ bottomless portafilter — with no fuss. In use, I do think it helps reduce channeling a bit, but the biggest benefit by far is keeping the shower screen clean. Cleanup is easier, and maintenance feels more controlled overall. Build quality is solid, and it sits flat on the puck without shifting. One thing to note is that it doesn’t work with a magnet, which isn’t a dealbreaker but worth knowing if you’re used to using a magnet to remove your screen. Overall, this is an easy recommendation if you want a small, inexpensive improvement that helps protect your machine and tidy up your workflow.

I have enjoyed making espresso at home for years with significant investment in ECM, Profitec, Ceado, etc. The fun part for me is there are always products being introduced that take things to the next level. My 1st experience with a 58.5mm puck screen was with another brand sold through a well known NY retailer of everything coffee. I purchased most of my equipment through them over the years, but buy lots of accessories on Amazon. I was so pleased with the result that I bought three more Normcore screens with two of their round silicone base storage racks through Amazon. All are great quality and function perfectly. Why do you need these screens? In my opinion, the little extra time needed to add the puck screen after the tamp and cleaning the screen is absolutely worth it. Most importantly, you will be shocked how clean your E61 Group Head, shower screen, and portafilter end up after a pull. I could not believe it! Candidly, I do not notice better tasting coffee, reduced channeling, etc., but everything stays clean, clean, clean! Additionally, a Nanotec Precision Shower Screen and 8.5mm Blue Silicone E61 Group Head Gasket (both purchased on Amazon) were very low cost, high benefit part replacements on my ECM. Note: One of my new screens ended up being the wrong size (53.3mm) even though I ordered a 58.5mm screen. The sleeve containing the screen was marked wrong and Amazon immediately exchanged it for the correct size. Summary: Highly recommended...a no brainer.

Use this every day to make my Espresso with the Breville Bambino Plus. It help evenly distribute the water, and keeps the shower head of the machine super clean. Highly recommend!

Once I purchased puck screens for my espresso, I suddenly found that I also needed something to hold them without destroying them. After some research I found a large number of similar holders available that not only ranged in size and shape, but also price. Narrowing it down to getting a holder that comes with a name brand attached, these holders were workable. Nothing fancy. Nothing ornate. And well within the acceptable price range. Meaning, it fit on the counter without taking up too much space and at a reasonable cost. It will hold screens up to 58.5mm, which for me, works out well. Durability? That remains to be seen. As the materials used are rubber, they have a tendency to rip, stretch, or both. So, for me, time will tell. If you are looking for something small to hold your screens, will do the job, and clean up well, then by all means these are the ones to look into. If you are looking for fancy? Keep looking. If you are looking for simple and a reputable backing? These will serve well.

These have held up much better than I expected after over a year of daily use. Just be aware that they are not flimsy, which in turn means the are a little thicker than most. Not an issue for me in my current machine (Rocket), but it doesn’t work as well with my smaller Rancilio Silvia which has a lot less space between the machine’s shower screen and the top of the puck.

I'm a pragmatist and wasn't sure I'd like to use a filter. Was it a gimmick to sell more stuff to coffee addicts? The tldr is I'm glad I got it. If you're not grinding your own coffee (or using a spice mill) and haven't invested in a scale or dosser, you probably need to address those issues before investing in a filter like this. This filter has helped make my coffee more consistently good because it allows for the coffee to be compacted more in the portafilter. This allows for the extraction to happen with higher pressure. The coffee is better tasting and there's more volume to the crema. The puck is drier and comes out easier than before. The time saved cleaning the portafilter can be spent rinsing out the filter if you want to, but it's generally clean after a pull because the water flows one direction. It's wet, sure, but clean. An additional benefit is that it keeps the coffee grounds from coming into contact with the head so I will have to clean the espresso machine less often (or rather, keep the coffee tasting good when I don't clean it as often as I should).

Habe mich für dieses Upgrade für meine Dedica Style Siebträgermaschine EC685.M entschieden. Ich bin begeistert. Ich nutze das Sieb mit dem neuen Duschaufsatz (IMS Precision Nanotech DL200NT Duschwand für Delonghi und andere Espressomaschinen, 50,5 mm) in Kombination mit dem Pucksieb von Normcore 51mm. Ich konnte nun den Mahlgrad bei meiner Sage Smart Grinder pro direkt von 12 auf 7 erhöhen. Echt nice!
