Science: Ruining Everything Since 1543: A Collection of Science-Themed Comics Paperback – April 15, 2014

Very funny comics for the science-minded, that is, those with an interest and some basic knowledge. Advanced degrees not required. That being said, my only quibble is that a few of the cartoons suggested by other scientist DID get a little esoteric for me. this may not be an issue for you. And this is, maybe three or four comics, tops.Otherwise, this is consistently funny and often laugh-out-loudly. I was not familiar with Weinersmith prior to this, but I will most certainly be checking out more of his work.

Very funny book. Perfect for the science geek in your life.

Fun, tongue-in-cheek, geeky cartoons. Not quite as interesting as XKCD, but fine in a different way.

The whole family loves this book! It is sharp, funny, well drawn and wide ranging. Would not recommend it for those with zero interest in science or a strong belief in creationism.

Hit of Christmas morning. This book made my teenagers laugh and read out loud to us. Everyone took a turn with it and it was hilarious to the entire family.

I only recently discovered Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, and when I saw this book, I thought it would be fun. It is. People can't help but pick it up, and when they do, they keep flipping the pages.Makes a great bathroom book.

I really like Zach Weinersmith's comics -- I know we can get it from their site, but I like to have a physical book and he could use the money to craft more comics :-)

Not only interesting and funny, but contained some apparently common knowledge I didn't know that let me read the rest of the book comfortably despite glaucoma in one eye

This comic book is written by Zach Weinersmith creator of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal web comic.It is broken down into three sections:SECTION ONE=============The first section is a collection of comics strips from the web comic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal based around the topic of science. This is the main content of the book and there are many brilliant jokes. Here are some of my favorites (SPOILER ALERT)Humans invent AI, then are concerned that the AI will kill them and take over, the AI however just wants to do intellectual pursuits like write novels and develop new algorithms, but upon hearing humans think that it wants to take over decides humans are nasty and should be destroyed!Another good joke is a time traveler traveling to the future expecting to find highly evolved super beings instead is shocked to discover that people are basically the same but the males have evolved condom busting genitalia!SECTION TWO=============The second section is quite short and consists of material not on the site because it was considered too nerdy.SECTION THREE===============The third section is called 'tales of science' and is short stories from scientists and geeks, to be honest I did not find this section all that interesting.My criticism of this book is that some of the jokes might not make sense to the layman and because the whole book is in comic book format it will only take a short time to read the whole thing.Science geeks will love this as will anybody that likes intelligent humor.

A third collection of Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal web comic strips. Here the strips are based on science and scientist-themed jokes: maths, physics, biology, engineering, all is lampooned here, with all the wonderful surreality we have come to expect from this comic. Good fun, clever stuff.
