Ergonomic ambidextrous and fantastic for navigating without a desk
I have on older, wired version of this trackball and liked it for navigating the shop computer without reaching awkwardly to the touchpad on the keyboard. The cord was still more limiting than the keyboard which is wireles so I was looking at wireless trackballs and found the very one, except wireless. The "handle" end is much easier to hold than the wired one and the added controls top it off.I'm a fan!Update: I Really like this trackball. I use it for navigating browser and YouTube in my shop. It does take a little practice and I saw some say it locked up but I have found that pressing the left mouse button (which is the right thumb button) brings back function (like it was waiting for input or something). The battery cover is weak and I have had the ball fall out from dropping the unit but I like it so much that I bought a second one to keep as a backup. The DPI switch is a new thing for me and I find it useful because I use two monitors and I can keep it set to move quickly between them and slow it down in cases like selecting text etc..

Broken and Dumb
Used it for a few hours and trackball stopped working entirely. Laser and left/right buttons still work, checked battery with multimeter to ensure it was recieving enough power, tried uninstalling/reinstalling/updating windows drivers.Beyond being a piece of junk, I also give the concept a 1star because I had difficulty figuring out a good use for it. I bought it for the living room TV, which would have worked OK had it not broken. However, I piloted it on my main PC and flipped through some games to see what felt best for just laying back and taking it easy and the best I could do was FTL. Even then, I had to use the keyboard for something. But I realize this is clearly not made for gaming.Overall, for the living room thing I think I'd prefer a keyboard/mouse combo device, otherwise you're picking up and putting down this stupid thing over and over whenever you want to type.

Pretty decent little thingamajig
Got it for use with a laptop so I didn't have to rely on the touchpad for CAD work. The right-click buttons and scroll wheel are slightly awkward to use due to their position, but otherwise it's been great. Surprisingly, it even stands upright securely when set down, which is nice.Haven't had any of the disconnecting or jumpy cursor issues that others have described, but I'm not putting a lot of distance between the mouse and receiver or dramatically changing the orientation of the device while in use.

Good solution but still needs work
It has so much potential. I love it... when it works. I have a podcast and spend a ton of time editing and I wanted something I could use in my right hand alone while I program all my shortcut keys to be easily reached by my left hand. And... when it is working, this is a great solution, allowing me to easily edit without fussing with the touch pad or having to sit at a desk with a surface for a mouse (I prefer to sit on the couch or outside when I can). But... it disconnects randomly and it isn't always easy to get it to reconnect. I've never had a dongle connected device disconnect so frequently. I also wish it had a power light to tell me when it was turned on and even better if it would warn me that the battery is getting low. And the battery door is awful, it's so hard to get open and even harder to get to close (I just changed the battery and it took me a solid 4 minutes of fussing with the battery door to close it again). The battery life isn't super great since it only uses a single AAA battery. I'd love this in a rechargable version with a dongle that wasn't so prone to disconnecting. This is so close to being a great product but it's just not quite there yet. I find myself often falling back to my touch pad when it disconnects because I get frustrated when it won't stay connected and don't want to fidget with it anymore. I hope a better version is available soon that resolves these problems because this is exactly what I was looking for.

The learning curve is worth it
I needed a travel mouse for school work. I spend a significant amount of my day on the computer, which is new to me, so I was getting raw skin and wrist issues with my ergonomic mouse. I thought an air mouse might help, so I ordered this one to see how I liked it.I did have issues with the battery door, and have it taped down until I figure out a better hack.I've never owned a game console, so my use of joysticks and controllers is pretty limited. It has taken a bit of practice to get the manual dexterity figured out, but this thing is great when you get the hang of it.Currently I'm in week 2 of using it. I swap between a regular mouse and this one every day depending on the tasks I am doing. If I need to type frequently, the regular mouse is more task-swap friendly. If I'm editing, moving files, and 10 key (swap mouse hand to left), the air mouse is much more friendly for use, and allows the body comfort options of working from non-standard positions. I can stand, pace, sit at a desk, sit on a floor pillow or yoga mat, or recline with my laptop on a breakfast tray. It's a little big for my hands, so I'm figuring out a comfortable grip style. Having the laser pointer is nice for enticing the cat off my desk.

Good design, poor quality
Good design but the product is poor quality. The blue tooth distance is only a few few feet, requiring you to be very close to the dongle. If you stop using the device for a short period of time it "goes to sleep" and you must remove the dongle from the computer and put it back in for the device to be recognized and work properly again. I wish the manufacture would create a better quality device.
