yet another book hits the dust
I’m reading all through Alex lukeman’s books. I’m on book 11 and now onto #12, throughly entertaining. I like historical thrillers of events that could happen if not already happening and most of us do not know about them.

"Lukeman scores another homerun in this action series with "The Russian Deception"
"The Russian Deception" by Alex Lukeman is the 11th in his popular "Project" Series. I have enjoyed all of the Project Books, and I have slowed up in my reading of them so I don't run out of the books. Sure as with many action type books, you simply have to suspend credibility a little, and just enjoy the story. If you are looking for a new series to try, I would certainly recommend Lukeman's series. However, I strongly suggest that you begin with the first book so you can appreciate the character development more. Our two main characters Nick and Selina have finally gotten married and are honeymooning on the islands, when things start to really go wrong and they are called back into action with the Project. "The Russian Deception" leads us right to the brink of WWIII, as in an internal coup, the Russian President Gorovsky (his death attributed to heart failure) is assassinated. However, there seems to be a powerful, mysterious presence behind these happenings. (Thus, it is best to read the series in order, so you can appreciate what is happenings!)Sure, this story was a tad far-fetched; however, so are many of the action/ adventure books that give so many of us escape and enjoyment, like Fleming's iconic Bond, to Reacher, Jason Bourne, Baldacci's amazing "Camel Club" series and others. So why not just suspend reality for a while, relax, read, and enjoy the ride. That is far more enjoyable to do. I really love this series and recommend it to you.

Reminiscent of the Cold War
I've read the entire Project series. I do not rank them in order of quality or preference. Each and every entry is on a basic level, just an enjoyable read. Some of the books delve more into character development than others. But each is necessary to move the ultimate "life story" forward. You begin to see that while one story has ended, it's effects on the characters, both mentally and physically, continue on to the next book. This is certainly true here and I think will be even more so in Book 12. If you've been reading along you'll love it. If it's your first foray, it's a good, action-packed story, but you would know very little about the characters. In fact there is very little that uncovers or moves forward much, with respect to the repeating characters. I did love the story though. It did evoke cold-war memories for me. Being in my late fifties I lived through much of it and read a plethora of books on the subject, both fiction and non. This reminded me of early Clancy, less the technological details. Obviously the Russians are very much involved, both good and bad. It's up to you decide who is who. We are reintroduced to Selena's sister, the Russian spy Valentina. She plays a prominent role. There is a lot happening over a short span. I thought the book could've been longer, perhaps more backstory or continued fleshing of the characters more interspersed with the action sequences. Without giving anything away, the ending is unsettling and makes you eager for the next book. So please get to it Mr. Lukeman!

Mr. Lukeman, Where Have You Been all my Life? Wonderful!
Alex still manages to keep me turning pages as fast as I can. I get more involved and attached to his characters every time I finish a new book by this amazing author: Alex Lukeman. I would recommend all his books to everyone who enjoys action, adventure, a little romantic ambiance, special-forces-comando-style characters and fantastic plots. and did I mention the amazing depth of his characters? Get this, and all his titles. The action is fantastic in his book.s This author writes action like no other I've read. They are exciting, make you feel like you're right there with the characters, but - and this is the amazing part - the action does not go on and on and on like in some others of this genre. The action written is just right, without belaboring it to death. I just love this author. My my very humble opinion - Mr. Lukeman is the best indy author out there for this genre.

But I will say that I have loved all of the Project series
I have not yet read book 11. But I will say that I have loved all of the Project series. At this point I will be starting book 8, and have 9 through 11 backed up on my Kindle.I have grown fond of the characters, who are well developed and likable. It's fun to see an overview of peoples lives and follow their progress through good as well as difficult times.I am on the author's mailing list, and every time a new project book is published I add it to my reading list. All of the project books have been (at least for me) page burners. I would suggest these tomes highly.Alan

Another Winner
The action begins with the assassination of Russian President Gorovsky and assumption of power by Orlov, a person with a decidedly hawkish mentality. Orlov has a plan to grab more territory for Russia and plans to accomplish with deception and misdirection.I was very pleased to see that Valentina, Selena’s intriguing half sister and Russian assassin played a much bigger role in this story than she has in previous installments. It's rather remarkable that 11 books into the series, the author manages to keep the characters fresh and interesting.

Just a hair-trigger away
This excellent addition to the Project series opens with the assassination of the Russian President Gorovsky, his death attributed to heart failure. In Kauai, the honeymooning Nick and Selena Carter get a call from the Project Director Elizabeth Harker ordering them home. It's quickly determined that a coup has taken place and the team is sent to Macedonia as reporters and crew. Once again they follow the breadcrumbs while the enemy seems to know their next move before they do. And WWIII is "just a hair trigger away. "

Don't try to get your own back on Nick Carter's team!
Mr Lukeman brings various strands from previous novels in the series together in this one. AEON, definitely not quite dead and buried as we thought, still trying to wreak havoc and destroy the world in a final act of vengeance; Valentina, Serena's Russian half sister, being deployed to the same places for more or less the same reasons as The Project Team, and Lamont sticking with Nick and Co following his attempt at retirement. The Deception in the title is very apt, as the use of misinformation leads towards global misunderstandings. A very fast paced and readable novel with lots of twists and international action. Quite a few twists and turns are involved, as is a very tense finish.Whatever will he come up with next for his intrepid group?

Continuing series of great stories
Yes, the series continues - no surprise that the team get involved in a race to prevent WWIII, engineered by an old enemy they thought was dead. Great characterisations, a lesson in Balcan geography and politics. Selina meets someone she never thought existed until recently, and at the end the team is 2members short. Just hope they recover in the next book. Really enjoyed it.

Good book, fast paced storyline
This is a great book with a fast-moving storyline and keeps moving ahead at a fast pace. The strategy in the book is well thought out and characters believable. The only reason I haven't given this a five star is the annoying re-occurring theme throughout the book that one nation is more superior and the rest of the world is slightly lacking. Bit too strong in this instance.

Another blockbuster.
As always Alex has delivered a very action packed story. I couldn't put it down, and read it all in a couple of days. For anyone who has not read any of the Project stories, I suggest you start from book 1, you won't be disappointed.
