I've been in HVAC for over a decade, and the UEI 1000 V AC/DC Digital Insulation Resistance Tester has become a staple in my gear. The illuminated display might seem like a small thing, but it's been a savior in cramped crawl spaces. Locking readings is a feature I didn't know I needed until I had it – it just simplifies my workflow. The TRMS function has made a noticeable difference in the accuracy of my measurements. The tough build and kickstand are the little touches that show the thought put into this tool. Being able to handle up to 1000V AC/DC, 40 MOhms resistance, and perform earth-bond checks means it's my go-to for a wide range of jobs. Also, UEI offers a 1 year warranty (in case you run into any problems).

Insulation testing Doesn't work, only shows dashes after testing. Even tried PI/DAR testing. And after the duration is complete, still only displays dashes. It's great price compared to a fluke but, that means nothing when the device does not perform as expected.

The UEI insulation tester and VOM meter is really a well made and highly useful instrument.The first thing I was impressed with was the quality of the test leads. Most instrument makers that are simply out to make a buck will always go cheap on the test leads. You get one set for testing voltages and another heavier set for the insulation tester which can read up to 20 gig ohm.Another feature that I like is the backlight display and the work light LED. One thing lacking is that it does not have a way to check capacitance.

I'm very impressed with the quality, and build of this meter. Great case and accessories. It does everything I need it to do. It's a great addition to the van.
