Hello CC 85W Magnetic Laptop Power Charger AC Adapter for MacBook Pro 15" 17"/ Unibody 15" 17" [Until Summer 2012 Models]

Purchased this charger after a bad experience with another company who would not honor their warranty.This charger from Hello CC works well and is nicely built for under $25.00. It charges my MacBook Pro as quickly if not more quickly than my original Apple brand charger did. I also like that the L-tip magnetic part is triangular, rather than the original round-barrel style from Apple. The triangular style is larger and allows you to hold it more easily while attaching to the Mac, and it also provides one flat side so it is easy to index the magnetic attachment towards the Mac while attaching in the dark (makes it easy to attach while in bed, etc.). The multi-color charge indicator lights are bright and distinct to indicate what phase of charging you are in.The charger also came with some international fittings which I have not used, so I will not talk about those. The only negative or rather improvement suggestion I have is this: the charger does not come with a "whip" style A/C plug in like Apple brand does. The box style picture here plugs into every socket I have tried it on just fine, but that "whip" style plug in gives you an additional 2-3 feet of length that this one does not. If Hello CC came out with a "whip" style attachment for this I would buy it in a second. Other than that, this is a great charger and I'm glad I bought it.In fact, I have a compliment for this company on its customer service! After putting my original purchase through some hard use, I somehow broke the L-tip that connects to my MacBook. I contacted the company to redeem the warranty and they were fantastic. Hello CC apologized that the product had broken and shipped me a new one right away. It took only three days from the time I sent them an email until I had the replacement charger plugged in at my house. They didn't ask me to pay a dime and checked to make sure I had the replacement. I could not have been happier with their service.I'm writing this review now because I'm buying another charger for the downstairs area of my home so I can just leave my office area charger plugged in behind a desk. At less than $25.00 a charger, I can easily justify having one for my home office and one to move around in the rest of the house. Hope this helps you decide!

EDITED 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE :After only 3 months (and a few days) after purchase, the Hello CC 60W Magnetic Laptop Power Charger seems to be dying while the wire and connectors look 100% fine on both side. I have to tickle the connector dozens of times so that it gets to charge... actually the exact same issue I had with my genuine Apple charger (and made me get a new one) but after 2 years of use.So it might be an exception, a flaw affecting this only charger, but consider it while replacing yours as even if it's 3 times cheaper, if you need to replace it 8 times to meet the longevity of the genuine one, maybe it's not cost effective...ORIGINAL REVIEW :So far so good! I only got it since a month but it perfectly does the job! Much cheaper than the apple one, this is a good pick for those who need a spare charger. Good quality, good finition. The connector head is bigger than the original but it may provide more durability.

This charger didn't even last 3 months for me before it stopped working. Swallowed my pride, bought the apple charger, and no problems since... yet! Not worth the savings.Update: Immediately after posting this review, the seller did contact me to apologize for the poor performance of the product, and offered to refund my full purchase price, which they did do promptly. I am updating my review and rating based on prompt customer service. Perhaps I was unlucky with a defective unit, and the majority work well. Good to know that if you do receive one that is less than satisfactory, they will work to make you happy.

This unit worked fine but now the magnetic head cable tubing has deteriorated and is almost unusable. All these units are the same including the original Apple one. The cords are not meant to stand repeated bending and eventually come apart. One can purchase a new cable but the repair is far too complicated and requires prying the pack open and soldering wires, something most people would not do. The landfills must be filled with old power packs because most people just discard them and buy a new one. Too bad for the environment.

I purchased the Hello CC 85W Magnetic AC adapter for my Macbook Pro as my OEM adapter stopped working. Considering the price of this unit compared to an OEM unit was definitely one of the determining factors for my purchase. I've used it now for over a year and have only had an issue with a minor tear on the cable because of rolling it up around the brick when I would put it in my laptop bag. I reached out to Hello CC to see if they can help but understood that I was just a few weeks past the one year warranty. They went above and beyond and still sent me a new unit free of charge. I would definitely recommend this adapter to anyone looking for a reliable cheaper alternative to an OEM unit and one that's backed with excellent customer support from the seller.

Lasted exactly 1 month. Seems high quality at the beginning, over the last week started overheating and now doesn't work at all. Terrible, terrible product.

Beware of this product. It became so hot that it burned my MacBook and nearly damaged it to the point that the laptop would not function.

It's worked perfectly for a year, but recently has started not connecting right. It's now becomes extremely hot at the connection to the computer, and has to be finagled just right to get it to charge. So, for the price I suppose almost a year of use isn't too bad.Edit: From 4 star to 5 star; I contacted the seller and they sent me a new charger under the year long warranty
