First I got this at a good price through Amazon warehouse ...but not sure that is the reason for this.I wanted this to replace a 4 gang extension I already have, that isn't switched and doesn't have USB ports. The cable runs behind a couple of big cupboards -plan was to take the wall plug off this and use the current cable to pull it through. However at the join it was a bit tight and I thought there was a risk that it would get stuck/pull apart, didn't want to use string/wire for the same reason so decided for now to use the current cable. (I do have quite a bit of experience with electrics -so was confident doing this).I took the end cover off and went to undo the cord grip to find it was cracked...as in the image. It is quite brittle plastic and I hadn't touch it at this stage - it must have arrived cracked. The individual wires themselves were firmly attached to their connectors so not an immediate danger -but if you were to pull on the cable or planned on moving it around a lot (especially by the cable, which of course you shouldn't do anyway!)....I have replaced the cord grip with the one off the previous one which is more flexible plastic and a still a good fit. The other thing was when I was tightening the individual wires the connectors were moving in the plastic case -I had to hold them in place with pliers to make sure they were really tight...I appreciate that these things happen and I am possibly just unlucky -and I am keeping it (with its 'repair') but it is a little bit worrying, especially as it was hidden, not something you would normally know about - and the cord grip in the 3 pin plug seems to be made of a similar plastic but was intact ...

I've made a few purchases due to previous good reviews.The individual sockets have switches and light indicators.After a while the indicator lights fade/dim instead of bright red.Mine extension has completely blown and fused the house!This is without much usage... blown after turning on my bedside lamp. Mine is only 10 months old....My son has two. Indicator lights have dimmed too. Going to buy some new ones ASAP.I've just read some other bad reviews too...This is unacceptable, dangerous and should not be selling at all!

This was just what I wanted - a long lead with four individually switched sockets and 2 usb ports, with keyhole slots to attach it to the wall.But I have a couple of minor gripes. The keyhole slots are to attach the bar vertically, which is what I wanted, but when I do so, the writing on the front saying "surge protector" and detailing the current of the usb ports is upside down and looks silly. Also, the instructions for the usb ports say to use port 1 for 2A devices, and port 2 for 1A devices, but they are not marked 1 and 2.I assume that the left one above the instructions (ie the right one if I use the keyhole mounts) is port 1, but I'd prefer to have it noted explicitly.

The plugs themselves seem to be misaligned, over time. They rattle when moved. They feel cheap, because they are cheap. I've heard crackles from these. I have a good few of them, and I'm going to replace them all.Don't be fooled like I was, just avoid this junk. Seriously. A house fire is not worth it. :(I'm not affiliated with anyone or anything, I've just had the misfortune to actually buy one of these.

I bought this item as a solution for a new desk which was quite a distance from the nearest plug socket.It allows me to plug in a lamp and laptop to the 3 pin sockets and phone chargers etc to the usb slots.The extension is good quality with secure feeling connections and no ‘wobble’ on the plugs as with some cheaper extensions.It also has the benefit of being able to individually switch each device rather than having to unplug them or switch the whole set of devices at the mains.Does everything I was expecting well and meets my exact requirements.
