when I first pulled this out of the envelope I was underwhelmed. The Flutterby is a lightweight, small piece of plastic that looks more sturdy in the picture than it feels in the hand. I was so discouraged I went online and spent about 50 more dollars for alternatives because, despite being a dinosaur, I never mastered the mascara wand wiggle. Every single morning I finish my eye shadow application and optimistically pick up the wand, thinking that this will be the day I won't smudge mascara all over my hard work. And, you guessed it, every single day I do. Here's the thing though...today I used this flimsy little doohickey and sweet success is mine! For some reason placing this above the lashes means the mascara goes on without clumping. For sure the plastic is coated but my lashes are fully covered, separated and my eye shadow is intact. Worth the tiny amount it costs. Don't be put off by its appearance. Be honest with yourself. It probably is worth less than a dollar in composition but would you have known how to cut something to this precise shape and with the proper dimensions? I haven't the patience. Would buy again.

The ridge that runs along the edge right above your eyelashes makes it more difficult than I thought it would. It does help keep mascara from getting on your eyelid, however, I wish it was just smooth.I have gone back to using one of those cheap false eyelash applicators, the real flimsy ones that come with some false lashes. I open it up until it is flat and use the curved part for the same thing I use the Flutterby for. I have to say that that works better than the Flutterby for keeping mascara off your lids. I am still trying to use the Flutterby just to give myself a chance to see if I get used to it more if I may like it better.

The best beauty item I have ever bought. Allows for a perfect application every time. You can get the brush through your lashes real good helping to eliminate clumping. So glad I bought this! Lashes look bigger and better than ever

This mascara shield is terrible. I wish I had never ordered it. I can not return them because I have tried them a few times hoping I could get them to work. What a mess, mascara all over, which is why I ordered it in the first place as I was getting mascara on my face.

They are both very cute but I just can't get enough mascara on my lower lashes when I use them. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I do have very thin lashes so they are hard to coat with mascara. For someone with lots of lashes, it would probably work much better.

Took a while to get the hang of, but once you do it's very easy to use. I prefer using this versus a business card or a price tag. I just scrape off the dried mascara to clean it.

So yes, these are cheap and I wish there were more styles to choose from, but they have saved my life. I’m not great at makeup at all, plus I have fairly long lashes. I’ve always had a problem with making a mess of my mascara while applying. These wonderful little shields work wonders when I’m in a rush.

These are ok. The ridge at the top actually works against me as my lashes are already naturally curly. I suppose it helps people with straighter lashes get a curl, but mostly these just keep off more mascara than they allow on.
