Same quality - as my mom's $4,300 hearing aids
So my mom's left hearing aid died. Custom build units, only three years old costing $4,300 and they died. So, here I am on the pursuit for something a little more economical. I'm the type of person that does a ton of research first before buying so hopefully I can save you some time with this review. The product is made in Louisiana by a company call General Hearing Instruments. I spoke with their service engineer becasue I wanted to know everything about this sucker. Long story short, they have made hearing aids for a long time (30 years) and they have a full service department to fix this unit if it breaks. It was nice talking with a USA based service department for a change.I decided on this model for my mom because she has narrow ear canals and the volume wheel is easy for her to use (her last hearing aid had a volume wheel). The other reason I chose this unit was for its sound output. Speaking with the company they explined how the sound is shaped for a mild-to-moderate hearing loss, which she has. Anyway, we popped it in her ear and she said that it sounds just like her custom units. I'm gonna have a word with her Audiologist on why theirs are so expensive.Looking at the device its tiny, made of soft silicone type material, and looks like its constructed in a way that the company actually knows what they are doing (not cheap China stuff here). Your best bet is to call the company, they helped me narrow down which one of their hearing aids would work for my mom. I may look for a wireless hearing aid for me when its my time, but General Hearing instructed me on which "bells & whistles" are meaningless and which ones actually matter.
