Very confusing to use, but this can pick up sound from across the room even soft talkers.
There are both good and bad features when it comes to this recorder. To be honest, though, I wouldn't order this a second time. The overall usability of this is confusing unless you're trying to do a simple record and playback for a couple of sessions. When recording, you can turn it on. There is a five second delay, then it will automatically start recording unless you have the headphones plugged in. With the headphones in, it will start the playback. I don't see a way to simply record with the headphones on, or to select the recording to be played back, or just not play back the recordings if the headphones are on. I also don't see a way to pause the recording and then pick it back up if I'm trying to record a longer session. I know you can back up your recordings and name them if you are connected to a computer, and there are additional features that are available when that happens. I personally didn't want to have to go through the computer. That is why I got the recorder and did not just use the mic on my computer. It took me reading the manual multiple times to figure out how to use the basic functionality with this because there are so many options that behave differently if the headphones are in or out. This makes sense if the device is trying to be as compact as possible. However, this is not a really small recorder, though it has a nice, sleek design. There is ample room for adding a basic screen and navigational arrow buttons, or at least single-use buttons for use with or without the headphones. On the plus side, the microphone is capable of picking up my voice when my back is turned from across the room, even when I am speaking softly. There is a nice natural tone that comes from the playback without sounding like a chipmonk. The sound is close-sounding even if I am walking around the room. I don't know of many other recorders that are capable of picking up those tones that clearly. The downside to this is that it picks up everything. If I am reading a book, it will pick up the pages, not only turning, but just my finger rubbing the page. There is the sound of the white noise light in the background, but it will also pick up the sound of the keys on the keyboard from over ten feet away. There are ways to adjust this in the settings, but you would need to connect the recorder to the computer and navigate through all the confusion there to do it. This is a really powerful recorder that has amazing abilities, but I think the navigation would need to be simplified to be appealing to a broader range of people. This can be done by adding in additional on-device menu options or making the buttons more single-use. The device itself is nice. I definitely love the battery life and the onboard memory. The design is sleek, but personally I find it really slick in the hand and prone to dropping, so texture would really help. That is, of course, a personal preference. I have a couple of butterfingers.

Problematic and poor instructions
I've read the manual multiple times and couldn't understand how to make this product work. I only wanted it to record a portion of the meeting and not voice activate and record every little sound. I got frustrated and just left this device on my desk. My husband helped and made more progress than me. When connected to his phone, he was able to see 50+ recordings, it recorded every little noise in the room plus conversations from the past 7 days. I had no idea it was still on as there were no lights showing. The device also randomly disconnect from the phone and you have to reconnect again and again. Poor instructions manual, poor connectivity to phone, poor design where you can't pause recording while using the device. It desperately need buttons to start/stop/pause.

Battery life is impressive
I love it is magnetic and can be adsorbed on metal surfaces, and the battery life lasts very long, one time I forgot the recorder and left it in the classroom, did not know it has been recording for 4-5 hours.

Very suprised
I was very surprised by how clear the recordings were with this recorder, I used it the first night to record my husband reading bedtime stories to our daughter and it sounded perfect when i played it back for her while he was out of town :)I find that the sound quality very good and exceeded my expectation! It also very easy to use and light weight.

Perfectly compact and easy to use recorder!
Extremely small slim and lightweight. 1/3 the size of my phone, making it super easy to carry in a pocket and store. The outer case seems to be metal, which is great, because I'm really hard on devices.1 button start/stop function, makes for easy fast operation.Battery display and modes lights are easy to read and understand.Comes with headphones, charging cables and a thick instruction manual, making zero questions about what else I need and how to use.

Recordings aren’t easily accessible individually
First off, this guy could get folks in hot water if it’s not turned off. The catcher to that is once it’s powered on and isn’t touched for 30 seconds or more all lights turn off until something is pressed. Is voice activated until you intentionally turn off VOR. The upside to this would be if someone was tryin to be sneaky, lights wouldn’t give them away. In order to listen to recordings you must wear ear buds included. Recordings are not listed separately in any fashion. It’s seems as though each one runs together. The way in which you delete recordings led me to that conclusion. If you’re not careful, it’s likely something you wish to save could be easily deleted. Deleting files is only executed when player is paused which can be confusing and probably info that folks often miss or over look. I feel that operating this device is on a tedious level. It’s functional and can be manipulated successfully if you take the extended amount of time and read every single instruction. I prefer something simple with a screen where I can see files and time frame per recording, and record mode is displayed in plain site for its entirety. This recorder has many features that would require the average person to keep instructions on hand any time the device is in use probably for the first 10-20 times.
