Perfect fire feature for a deck. We did put something underneath (cement board) for our first fire because was not sure if it would get hot under it. But it stayed completey cool. Bought the Ranger 2.0. Love it. Perfect for 2 to 4 people. Gives off great warmth and no campfire smell afterwards or dealing with propane. Also portable so can move around to different parts of yard. Came with carrying case, spark/ember protector grill thingy, lid to use as table when not in use as well as a cover to protect from elements.

Bought it to put our RV for camping. Works great and super portable. Definitely recommend! Very little smoke from the fire. My s’mores came out perfect.

This is the perfect size to keep four people warm. Easy to start a fire, very little amount of smoke and essentially none when the fire is burning fully. The wood burns down quickly and leaves very little coals. Easy transport and cools down quickly. Definitely an essential item for any off-road trip.

I was tempted to go with one of the cheap copycat versions, but these are great quality and I didn’t want to risk being disappointed. I would love to have a larger version to leave in my backyard all the time, but this is better for taking places. It works great if you are cutting your own firewood, but might be a little small for the stuff you buy at the gas stations and stores. It’s big enough to have a good sized fire that puts off a lot of heat, and if you use fairly thick pieces of wood, it will burn for quite a while.

Great price, but rusted quickly. Like a Mogwai, do not get it wet!

Disclaimer: We've only used this item once. However, I can already tell we will like it. Husband and I are empty-nesters. At our old place, where our kids grew up, we installed a fire pit with landscape block that we used reasonably frequently. The upside was it was big and easy to use. The downside was it was a pain to clean and changing winds meant smoke in your face.On first use we're already impressed by this little guy. As you may be able to tell from our photo, the wood we purchased at the grocery store does stick out of the top a bit. We loaded it with shreds from our shredder, a few twigs, and 3 pieces of wood from that bundle. Used fireplace matches to light, and you'll need something similar if you get one of these as you cannot hold a lighter down inside without burning your hand or arm.The airflow within the unit is excellent and our fire was humming along in no time. I wouldn't say it's 100% smokeless, but the design does minimize the amount of smoke generated. When winds would shift and blow in our face, we could feel the heat but didn't have a face full of smoke. It was just the 2 of us, but if necessary we could fit a total of 4 or 5 around it without trouble. This isn't a bonfire party unit.Cleanup is really easy and with the included carrying case it's easy to pack up and put away.If such a thing were available, a short plant stand or something similar would make it even nicer because this guy is pretty short.All in all we are pleased and know we will enjoy it for awhile.

This was a replacement for my basic pan fire pit which got too smokey. This is so much better in many ways. I haven't used it on a windy day yet but it is smokeless. It burns so well, easy to start and new logs catch so quickly. The flames are higher so my whole body gets warmed not just my legs. The chamber is smaller so I will have to cut my fireplace logs in half but fine. The ash tray should be wider but I'll deal with that. It burns so well. All ashes when done. No unburnt ends. I recommend.
