Great for people new to the market!
I haven't gotten through this entire book yet mostly because I have stopped to research or work on something as soon as I read about it. Also, half of this book is information on agents, organizations, etc. For someone that has not been in the market for a long time, this is probably a very good book to have. I've already gotten some information that I had been searching for the past few months and hadn't found a "definitive" answer. Although he doesn't give a definitive answer himself, he gives helpful advice on certain topics that I was wondering about. Although a lot of the information in here could be found in other places, I think this book is a MUST HAVE for new or aspiring Children's writers and illustrators. If you have been in the market and gone through the motions, then this book still might be a positive for looking at things a little different, refreshing some information, or even just having as a reference book.

be careful which addition you're actually ordering
The edition has many good articles and advice for writers. However, I thought (my own carelessness) I was ordering the latest edition. I didn't realize it until I was looking through it and discovered outdated information in the listing. I'll keep it for the articles that are timeless information. Somethings never change. The Writer Digest market books are a good reference, even if the market listings are outdated. The three stars have more to do with their markets being outdated than the quality of the publication. My bad!! Just be careful which addition you are order from Amazon.

Great Guide - but needs a GPS
This is an excellent guide to anyone looking to break into the world of children's books: thorough resource listings on both the publisher and agency side; helpful tips; useful examples and templates; etc. My only complaint is that it's not easy to navigate despite the various indexes. It would be helpful to add some indexes that 'cut' and organize the listings in different ways - e.g., publishers who accept 'unagented' submissions vs via agents only; publishers or agents who specialize in children's books vs. children's books as one of many areas; or even agents listed by geographic area since agent-author relationships are more personal.

It was a so-so buy
I bought this for the sole purpose of getting a list of non-soliciting submission listings which was not a good reason for buying it to begin with however I will first state the fact that the listings are not that accurate on what publishing companies accept non-agent material. I made a list of about 20-25 companies to submit to and once going on their submission sites found that the 20-25 was actually 5-6.That being said, this book is really good otherwise. It has extensive lists of agents, conferences, etc. there are tons of article information on techniques, formatting, and current trends. All of this information makes it a reasonable investment but don't waste money on it if you are just trying to get easy lists of what could accept your work.

It was okay. It is more a reference book ...
It was okay. It is more a reference book + inspiration book with a handfull of advice. So I hope it didn't show to me all it's potential yet and I am looking forward to use it later again.I am a little angry at myself and at the book, because it constantly promotes membership in SCBWI and I became a member in the middle of the book. And now I deeply grudge my $95 and I am not sure the membership worths it. We'll see.

Fantastic resource, but out of date
A fantastic resource with lots of essential information, but some entries are out of date. So far I have discovered one publisher listed that apparently went out of business several years ago, and another publisher whose website address is wrong. Also, a number of typos and generally sloppy editing. Although its title indicates that it's a guide for 2015, clearly it has not been updated.

An author friend recommended this book to me to help me in knowing ...
An author friend recommended this book to me to help me in knowing which publishers to send my work to. I suggest buying the current edition if you are looking for a publisher either for your story or illustrations. It gives you wonderful detail on who is accepting currently, what they are looking for, what kind of books they publish. There are also many informative articles to help you in your quest for publishing.

High Quality Writer's & Illustrator's Resource
Wonderful resource for breaking into the Children's Writers & Illustrator's market. This is a well organized and designed book that is perhaps the best on the market at this time. I have no regrets in purchasing it at all, as it is the high quality resource that I expected.
