Definitely bigger than what I needed it for but it's ok because it will actually work well in the long run. I originally bought this for my grow outs that where too small to roam with the older girls but too big to be in the brooder. I figured it would be great protection for the little birds and they could start socializing with the others. It took me a minute to figure out how to put it together because the instructions where a bit confusing to follow a first. After getting it together I can say it wouldn't do well for predator protection by itself. It is on the flimsy side but most pens like this always is. It almost reminds me of a portable dog playpen which is good because it's light and easy to move around by myself. It's definitely not good for standard size chicks or young turkeys under 12 weeks or really and young slender chicks. My adult hens can fit there head between the bars easily and a few of my chicks where able to squeeze through the bars and escape within seconds of me moving them into it. Buyer be warned if you are planning on buying this for grow outs like I did. With a little fencing, zip ties and ingenuity, it would work for younger chicks.

We bought this to transition our baby chicks in with our older chickens. This fits perfectly into our run. We have 9 chicks in here and they have plenty of space. It was easy to assemble. The quality is good for the price. There is no predator protection to this so you may need to modify in order to make it safer. This is a good temporary solution for the transition into the large coop, but I'm not sure if it would work long term for us.

Putting it together solo was a bit of a challenge—wish my husband had helped—but I wanted to surprise him, so I powered through. It’s made of metal but very lightweight. Once it’s fully assembled, though, it does get heavy.The instructions looked simple at first glance, but those little hooks that connect each section were tough. I kept pinching my fingers trying to get them to latch. It honestly felt like I needed the jaws of life! BUT… by the time I got to the third section, I had a breakthrough—grabbed a pair of pliers, opened the clamps a little, and from there it was smooth sailing. I was able to connect each section and reclamp them easily.For reference, I bought the largest version they offer—six full sections—and once everything was connected and I added the inner support brackets, it all came together beautifully.Yes, it was frustrating at first, but totally worth it in the end. It has plenty of doors on both the top and bottom, and the included cover is excellent quality. I’m currently housing 10 teenage chickens inside, and I’ll easily be able to fit 15 more in the coming months. It’s also light enough to move when my gardener needs to mow underneath it.The price was fair, it looks great in the yard, and I’ve already gotten tons of compliments from family and friends. If you’re looking for a chicken run—yes, I definitely recommend this one!

Perfect for our purpose! We used this crate to separate our new flock from our existing flock. It created a safe space for them within our existing run, so I didn’t have to worry about predator proofing it. More than enough space for our 7 chicks to grow in and could accommodate more comfortably. It was crazy hot the day I assembled it - took about an hour with a helper. We realized a couple of doors opened in instead of out during the process, but didn’t bother changing it because it didn’t make a difference for our use.
