If you are seriously asking if a carbon steel knife with leather handle is good for diving you are not a certified diver.

does it come with a firelighting back does anyone know?

The spine will not spark a ferro unless you modify it. I had to remove the black coating with paint remover and file the spine before it would throw sparks. It's a good mid size belt knife but the leather sheath sucks. Get the plastic sheath. It is sold separately.

Is this a full tang blade?

I find my self asking the same question concerning the strength of a rat tail or narrow tang (don’t care which is which, they both weak). As I physically look at my KA-BAR BK2, I’m instantly less concerned about the tang of the Mark I. I’ll have both with me and use the right tool for the job. Basically, I’m not going to baton any knife without a true full tang. A rat tail, narrow tang, or hidden tang is not a full tang in my ignorant opinion. I want to baton the steel, not the handle material.
