Email Marketing Rules: Checklists, Frameworks, and 150 Best Practices for Business Success Review: The landmark reference book for email marketing - There’s not many books that can stand the test of time when it comes to writing about a dynamic and evolving digital medium. Rather than being bogged down with soon to be outdated technologies and methodologies, Chad’s book Email Marketing Rules sets out to define core principles of this unique marketing discipline. It succeeds through and through with this endeavor. The book is a reference book, textbook, checklist and more all rolled into one. You can read the book any way you’d like and at any skill level. Personally I feel that Email is at the foundation of digital marketing. For those in the know, it’s an interdisciplinary field where the best in tech, design and creativity collide. There’s some great universal ideas you’ll learn in this book that can be applied to advertising, data management and sales in general. Whether you’ve been in the field for a day or ten plus years, I definitely recommend this book for every marketer looking to gain an edge in their understanding. Review: Should be required reading for anyone in email marketing - Surprisingly, Chad White has found a way to improve upon older editions of his work. In addition to crucial updated content, he has also added various figures that illustrate ideas and will help marketers understand otherwise complex marketing strategies. Email, as a communication tool but especially as a marketing channel, is constantly evolving and reinventing ways to be more valuable for the end-user. Mr. White covers concepts on which I advise my own clients with great clarity and accuracy, like the importance of marketers understanding and anticipating user lifecycle, conceptual best practices, and also includes various tactics and examples to help convey them. Lastly, this work covers the complex world of email deliverability in a way I haven't seen in a mainstream medium before. ISPs like Google and Microsoft only view your content as valuable if their users *show* them they think as much, regardless of how great you think it is. The only way to be successful in email is to be dynamic in your tactics and own deliverability as a sender. I'm using this work to help educate my clients, make sure my methodologies are sharp, and as an email nerd, also for enjoyment. :) Seth Charles Email Deliverability Consultant for SendGrid

This is a fantastic reference book for email marketing novices and experienced marketers ...
This is a fantastic reference book for email marketing novices and experienced marketers alike. Chad outlines 150 best practices as well as checklists that cover everything email marketing related-- from list growth, to copywriting best practices, to subscriber journeys, and more. I consider myself an advanced email marketer, having been in the industry for over six years, but I still keep a copy of this book on my desk. I've used referenced Email Marketing Rules several times when writing internal email communication best practices for my company. But I can also see a small business owner that's new to email marketing and wants a full-circle reference "manual" of sorts on what to do and why. A bonus: Chad's writing style is clear and concise but also interesting and compelling. If you've ever been overwhelmed by the complex and constantly changing world of email marketing, stop wasting time reading this review and buy the book. You'll be happy you did.

Wonderful look into email marketing
Disclaimer: I received this book for posting an honest review. I have been working in email marketing for over 6 years now and there is always more for me to learn. This book is a great primer for all of the little nuances and gives a great background of all that goes into email marketing. I was hoping to see some more information on some higher level tactics but this was a great refresher for me on the basics.

This book should be used in graduate school courses
I bought Mr. White's Email Marketing Rules because I have been in digital marketing for a number of years both personally and professionally. I still feel the need to keep up with current trends and I referenced this book as I advise my organization on the dangers of list purchasing to increase email addresses. This book has multiple nuggets of information that any email marketer will find valuable. THIS BOOK SHOULD BE USED IN GRADUATE SCHOOL COURSES.

A Must Have For Marketers (NOT Just Email Marketers)
I have worked in email marketing for over 10 years and I have learned A LOT from Chad and this book. He draws the line with grey areas and covers every angle of email marketing. I suggest all marketers have this book handy. I say all marketers, not just email marketers, as it creates moral grounds that can be applied to many other areas of marketing. Here is what this book will do for you: - If you are new to email marketing, this book will catapult you into the industry. - If you have some experience with email marketing, this book will nurture your experience into expertise - If you are not a marketer but own a business, this book will help you understand the the power of email and how to properly execute with best practices. Thanks again, Chad for your time and dedication to the industry!

Perfect gift for Entry Level Email Specialists
I have purchased this book multiple times as I move from company to company consulting on email marketing. Many times there is an entry level email specialist in charge of every aspect of email coming straight out of college with no real world experience. I think of this book as their entry level "life preserver". I receive thank you messages months and years later as this book as been one of their best resources when traversing the ever changing world of email marketing. My copy has so many margin notes and highlighted sections that I if I ever misplace it, I will be completely lost.
