Only detects ADULT lice, not nits, not eggs. Use only on DRY hair
This will not work as a stand-alone product. It will not even work for the purpose I bought it for: to check our hair for any nits or eggs that escaped the pesticide treatment. So, this ended up being a waste of money. No where on the listing here on Amazon or on the exterior of the packaging does this tell you that it ONLY detects adult lice.It was only after I cut into the clamshell plastic packaging and read the instructions that I spotted that disclaimer, so I was no longer able to return it to Amazon (I asked). Adult lice are easy to spot - I don't need any help spotting them. They are easy to remove - the cheap lice comb that came in the pesticide treatment kits removes them easily. So, what is this product for, exactly? If you are trying to remove lice without pesticides, this will not help you do that either. By the time an adult lice is big enough to get spotted by this tool, it has already laid dozens of eggs in your hair, and those will all become nits, which become adult lice. Remember that this tool doesn't detect the nits either. It is feasible that the comb will remove them, but if you miss one (and this won't help you to be certain), you allow them to mature, then lay eggs. The cycle won't end. I suspect there is a reason they didn't reveal anywhere that this product DOES NOT FIND NITS OR EGGS; there is no way I would have purchased this had I known.Let's say I found it useful, somehow. You cannot use in on wet hair. Your hair must be dry. If you have ANY wave or curl to your hair, you know that combing it dry is an impossible, painful task. And this comb is very fine, so it's ripping out hair as you attempt to use it. The only people who might find this helpful are those with short, straight, tangle-free hair. That's also NO WHERE stated in the advertisement or on the exterior of the package.I'm really baffled by this product. The only way to hoodwink people into buying it is to withhold information until it is too late, because who is going to refund an opened lice comb? Save your money. You can spot live adult lice without a problem without the fancy electronic component. It's the nits and eggs that are hard to spot.

Works
Here’s what you’re going to do when you have found lice in your kids hair:1. Anxiety attack because it is one of the grossest things ever and you can’t believe your kid has it2. Calm down a bit and search the internet for answers and have another anxiety attack as you read horror stories about other parents’ experiences with lice3. Buy every product you can find that claims it can help with liceNow what should you do?1. Calm down, it’s ok. Many people have been through this and they succeed. It will take work though, so prepare for it2. Put Nix shampoo in your child’s hair as directed and watch all the little buggers die (mwahaha)3. Rinse hair as directed4. (Optional) have your child use regular shampoo / conditioner after5. If your child has long hair, brush hair with a regular brush and boil that brush6. If your child has long hair, get a clip or scrunchee or some kind of hair tie and put most of it up, leaving a lower section out7. If your child has long hair, put cetaphil lotion on the loose hair to act as a detangler8. Brush hair with the Terminator lice comb, it’s easiest to brush from the top down with comb over the hair touching the scalp. Brush this small section lots of times until you don’t see any weird little white or brown bits in that section of hair (those are the eggs)9. Clean the comb with isopropyl alcohol or boiling water.10. Let down a little more hair, if using a hair tie. Or just move to another section.11. Repeat combing small sections until you’ve combed all hair.12. Have child take a shower to clean out the lotion (if using)12b. Wash everything that touches anyone’s hair in 130 degree F water. You might need to adjust your water heater, there should be a knob on it with different temp settings, so look at the directions on how to set it. And dry everything on high heat for 20+ minutes13. Check child’s hair every day for more lice. If more lice are found, check Nix directions to see if it’s safe to repeat, but definitely do the combing procedure14. On the 5th day, repeat combing procedure no matter if lice are found or not15. On the 9-10th day, repeat Nix treatment and combing procedure. This is a good day to repeat treatment based on the life cycle of lice. Eggs will have hatched, but the new lice will not have laid eggs yet.16. Keep repeating everything until no lice are found17. Treat yourself, you deserve it

Works
Quite small and a bit difficult to open the battery cover. Seems to work well although I don't have any lice for it to kill. Damn

It works.
When I found out my daughter had lice and had given it to me, I did not react well. I kind of wanted to burn my house down and start over. It felt like the bugs must be EVERYWHERE, and the task of getting rid of them felt paralyzing. If that’s you right now, believe me, I understand. The good news is that lice will die after 48 hours without a head to bite, so you can quarantine things like stuffed animals and backpacks for a few days. You’ll have to thoroughly wash and dry sheets and towels on high heat, and of course, get rid of the source. This shampoo works extremely well for that. I now keep at least two bottles of it in my house at all times for peace of mind. The key is to just stay on top of the knits. I used a scorched earth approach 🤣 Once I had done the initial treatment (and fought the urge to run screaming when I combed actual bugs out of my daughter’s hair), I repeated the treatment again on both of us about 4 days later. I diligently continued to comb through both of our hair for any knits and it worked. I was beyond relieved that we successfully de-loused ourselves. If there’s even a RUMOR of lice at school, I use this on my kids just in case. It’s easy, relatively quick (except for the combing part), and the smell is tolerable. Highly recommend.
