It works as advertised!
If you love taking care of your lawn, this roller is a must! Take your lawn to the next level. I got this unit because I wanted the "wow factor" and this does it. I attached it to my Honda HRX 217 mower. A couple things to note: 1) When you attach the clam shell clamps to your mower, you may find it difficult to get them low enough on the handle bars. The directions advise that the hitch tube be between 3 1/2"-4 1/2" from the ground. I found that the handle bars attached to the mower flattened out higher than I would have liked. Therefore, the clamps can't get much lower than 6-7 inches from the bottom so my lower hitch tube is at the high limit. 2) Filling the roller was no problem and took less than five minutes. Don't use "play sand" but some All Purpose Masonary Sand. It's dry and flows easily through a long neck funnel. Just pour it in one glass at a time. Easy Peasey. 3) My Honda mower handle bars appear to be larger than other mowers because the clam shell clamps were difficult to get tight. They don't completely close when you tighten all the screws so I imagine this is made for a Toro with a thinner gauge handle tube. I used epoxy glue on the screws and used a little longer screw than what was in the kit so the clamps would hold. 4) This does not interfere with my grass bag so you can easily bag your grass with it. I don't mulch, but if you do, it won't be an issue.

Works great
Install took about 20 minutes, not including the time to run to the hardware store to get longer (1.25") phillips screws, as I have a Honda mower. The two center bolts were fine.As many others have stated, use a funnel and DRY sand. I had about 1/3 dry sand, and the remaining sand took much longer; total maybe 10 minutes to fill completely, using a screw driver to poke the wet sand through the funnel. I was able to get about 15 lbs in, will top it off in a few weeks. Finally, use a 11/16 socket on the red plug; much easier compared to a screw driver.I always mow at 3"; mostly bluegrass, fescue and rye. This left nice stripes, especially the areas not drying out. I mow a border 2x before putting the roller on...much easier, as I'm not backing up much at that point. Turning 180 with the roller on was very easy. I did notice the extra weight, as the mower slowed a bit....but hardly enough to complain about. Also, I'm able to still use the bag without issues. I installed the roller giving about 1/2" clearance between the roller bar and the plastic chute cover. When I mow the border, I generally bag the grass around mulch beds.Very happy with this...wish I got it years ago!

Easy to install, works great, BUT...
Easy to install, works like a charm.Lays beautiful stripes and as my wife says “it makes the yard look like a baseball field!”, BUT if you’re like me and like to mow your lawn short, and have to makes sharp turns, the bar in the suggested position is too low and you’ll end up pivoting on the bar which either won’t allow you to turn, will put unnecessary stress on the plastic connectors, or worst of all-will gouge your lawn! This can be solved by raising your mower or adjusting the bar to stick out from the back rather than straight down as mandated in the instructions. Moving the bar, however, pushes the roller back and depending on your stride, may put it under your feet as it did for me (6’3” long strides). I raised my mower and will keep my lawn a little longer than I care to this year but it will be beautifully striped!I’ve also seen other comments on needing special sand to fill the roller, and thats just not the case. I got a 50lb bag of play sand from the hardware store, which is admittedly drier and finer grain than quarry sand would be, but the fill opening on the roller is roughly 3/8” and may not take rocks, but it’ll take any sand you might find.Very happy with this, would recommend, just takes some fiddling with to find the best position for optimum functionality

Great results but overpriced.
This is a great lawn striper, it definitely takes your lawn to the next level! It wasn’t very hard to put together once I figured out what parts had to go where. I read plenty of reviews with people who had a hard time filling the roll with sand. I used Quikrete All Purpose Sand from Lowe’s and it only took a couple minutes to fill with using a funnel. I know people say to get “dry sand” so I recommend buying it. The sand is only 3 or 4 dollars and is dry enough for what you need. Besides that, it works great and makes your lawn look excellent. It is pretty overpriced for the materials but you won’t find another lawn striper that does this good of a job. I tried finding others but this one seemed to be the best price for what I needed it to do. I used the system on my Troy Built TB230. The system rubs the deck height handle but it hasn’t caused me any issues so far. The more I use this, the better the results I get. Although it was $100, if you like your yard to look great, this is worth every penny.

Nice striper
Fairly easy to setup and does a nice job striping the yard. Definitely a little pricey for what it is. Keep in mind, it does add some weight to the back of your mower which can be cumbersome at times. I like having the quick disconnect for it though.
