This inexpensive set is a well designed way to learn chess. The pieces are a easily handled size with labels indicating the possible moves attached, a perfect idea. Useful introduction for the beginner.

I bought hoping that my kids would enjoy learning it and it was a hit during Thanksgiving. Daddy taught them how to play. The introductions were easy enough for my kids to read it and learn it (11&9) and taught my 5 year old when dad wasn’t around. They love how the name and the moves are there on each piece. The quality was fine but excellent value for the money but really for giving my kids something to challenge each other and learn a game together. Their goal is to beat dad.

This game makes teaching chess so simple and fun. The board clearly shows where to place pieces, and the button pieces are genius—they show exactly how each one moves. I’ve taught multiple people with almost no effort and way less repeating myself. It takes all the pressure out of learning and makes it approachable for beginners. Definitely worth spending a little more for something that’s fun, effective, and frustration-free.

This has helped me son learn to play chess. My son is autistic and this has helped reduce his frustration with remembering how each piece should move. He is learning and enjoying chess now!

Wonderful set. We love how it helps tea h those who dont know how to play, but also works Wonderful for those who already know how. Its also makes it easy for someone who knows to be able to play with someone who doesn't know. Amazing set.

Game is excellent. Board is sturdy. Pieces are plastic but good quality, they comes with an additional piece that shows the moves of the pieces (for beginners). Also, the game comes with cards that explains the names of the pieces and how they move. This is ideal for kids. The package is compact and easy to transport so, you can bring this game with you to your trips. Pieces has good size. My daughter loved the game and the instructions that came with made the difference. Highly recommended.

I bought this after my son learned and started to obsess over chess to teach myself to play. It is a great training set for beginners and a fun game for families.

I love this set so much. My kids love the cards, the pieces look great, and the box is well designed so it's a fun experience to open it and set it up. Here are a few things to know though (none of which bothered me at all): - The board is made out of regular board game material and it folds into a square with creases just like any board game. - The bases of the pieces can be tight and difficult to take off. - The pieces seem a bit short and light without the bases, so I'm leaving them on even though I know how the pieces move. - The cards go beyond the basic moves and give some puzzles and tips. Nothing that can't be found online but it's kind of cool to read the little facts and tips. - In my opinion, the side with where the pieces go is distracting and not required. My 5 year old learned quickly the starting position of the pieces. I think it would be better to have a card with a picture of the start position and have the second side a different colour scheme instead.

Great chess board and pieces for absolute beginner

Purchased for my children in hopes of giving them something other than video games. It arrived on a Monday, I set it up and started teaching them names of pieces, how to place them and basic moves. I am no master at the game in any way. By Wednesday they were beating me at the game! They were also correcting me on some things I had forgotten. Like the pawn can move twice on first move... This board comes with everything you need to learn how to play chess. It is a great way to introduce chess to your family. You never know, it might just become a new favourite pastime and great way to connect with your children as you play and learn together.
