Good product
It's exactly what I was looking for to fix the finish on one of my guitars that's nitro finish. The pen is easy to use and easy to control the amount of paint applied. Shake very very well! Shaking after the initial use (after breaking the seal to saturate the tip) causes paint to come out in the cap. Enough to drip if you're not expecting it. If you need to build up the finish, this works great but will take longer to fully cure and harden.

The Best Touch-up Tool for Kendokas!
I know my use case is not for a musical instrument but for martial art equipment. I practice a martial art called kendo and the head gear uses black and red lacquer to ornate the menbuchi which is hardened rawhide. Sadly having a bamboo sword strike your protector over and over again during training the lacquer starts to chip over time as you can see in the before pictures. It is a pain to touchup and wasteful having to buy a bottle of lacquer paint to touchup the menbuchi. That is why these Coloratone touch-up markers are great. The black matched perfectly and very easy to use, the red on the other hand did not match the original color but I did not expect it to because color matching is very difficult if you don’t know the original color. I have to say this is the best menbuchi touchup tool for Kendokas to use and highly recommend it!

Perfect but at a cost
As per usual, it’s an absolutely perfect product from Stew Mac. But it costs you. Just about everything they sell is overpriced BUT if you wait for a sale, you can get things at a reasonable cost. I have a hard time knocking them because they have such a niche business and what they sell is excellent professional level quality. I’ve never been disappointed in anything they sell. These are drop shipped directly from Stew Mac I’m not exactly sure how they worked that out with Amazon not next day unless you live in Southeast Ohio.

Note that the tip is reversible
"REVERSIBLE APPLICATOR TIP: Flat side for broad strokes, pinpoint tip for precision repairs on detailed areas." I didn't realize until I had applied several coats that the tip could be pulled out and reversed to the pinpoint tip. It is much easier to work with the pinpoint tip than the default (flat) tip. "EASY TOUCH-UP FOR GUITAR FINISH: Instantly fixes scratches, dings, and worn spots with genuine nitrocellulose lacquer." I'm not sure I agree with this statement. It is very opaque, almost watery, and takes multiple coats to cover. It looks good after drying, although the color didn't match what I was hoping it would.

Nice touch up but not perfect color match. Read the instructions carefully!!!
I purchased this for some minor touch up work needed on a product finished with the Sonic Blue rattle can. The color is close but I expected it to be a bit closer since it’s from the same manufacturer. It’s not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of. You need to read the instructions carefully because the applicator WILL shoot paint everywhere. Ive honestly had better success ignoring the applicator and just using a paintbrush to apply touch ups and polish as needed.

Even better than I imagined.
It works really well. Easy to use, dries (or cures?) quickly and not sure what else there is to say. This lacquer pen gets the job done. Like earlier reviews suggest, practice a little on scrap paper or wood just to get a feel for it because the lacquer does dispense with little pressure. Great product!

Ok for small nicks, color's available you have to be luck to get a match
Very runny be careful when applying, also up front, if you return you will get stuck paying for the return, also no free shipping, you get socked coming and going, would not use it when the nick is very small, you could end up worse than when you started
