Clear
Looks great aesthetically on my camera and no image difference even when shot wide open. Coupled with a discount code I had from amex, even better! I’ve got other filters from B+W, Hakuba XC pro extreme, Sigma, Zeiss.

Best on the Market
UPDATE, another lens, another filter purchased.Feb 2025: this latest filter has schmutz on it. Ewww. It looked like the anti-reflective coating had a flaw in it, with the spot resembling a dried-up water droplet. A dry microfiber failed to take it off. Had to use lens cleaning fluid. C'mon, people. If you're going to spend the money to package the filter in a little leather pouch lined with simulated silk, have the decency to make sure the glass is clean, first? Ugh.Well, here's the rest of an updated review. Tainted, and down a star from five to four because of the dirt.It still bothers me that I am spending nearly as much on this filter as the cost of an old M42 lens that matches a vintage camera. But they aren't making those lenses anymore, and finding one in "mint" condition after 50 years is exceptional. I am satisfied that I can protect the nice glass from dirt and scratches by using a good filter."Good" means undistorted filter glass, and metal threads that mesh well with the lens threads. Poorly made, and plastic frames on filters can cross thread with the lens and cause damage to the lens. If the initial mounting of the filter on the lens has unusual friction or rough spots, STOP there, and return it.This one fits great. Smooth, easy, tightens and removes as expected.--previous comments follow--I had spent this same kind of money on another German brand which no longer has the kind of quality the B+W continues to maintain. My judgment is based on how well the threads "start" on the lens, and how well a lens hood will thread onto the filter. I also am quite pleased to see a hologram, tamper-resistant seal on the box that B+W has implemented to fight counterfeits.Others, heliopan in particular, but also Hoya, fail to provide adequate protection in their product wrap. The packaging creates a problem of dust and light scuffs that need to be cleaned before the first use of their filters. B+W, by comparison, packs in a box of stiff paper, that in turn, envelops a little pouch with a felt liner. It feels almost extravagant, yet, the filter emerged pristine. In 2024 I suffered two heliopan premium filters that felt like they were cross-threading onto the lens. It turns out the paint or other finish they use on the ring is too thick, possibly from a production error, and that this caused the filter to want to jam against the lens because the two sets of threads are out of tolerance causing a poor fit. This filter itself is a UV "protection" filter, not only reducing light in the ultraviolet range, but also intended to take the trauma of the outside world before it can reach the lens itself. There is an anti-glare treatment with this glass that may reduce the amount of lens flare I otherwise might see on the vintage camera and lens where this 49mm filter is being used. The UV treatment itself won't change the image enough to see a difference, but it is apropos when using film, which is more sensitive to UV than digital camera sensors.Happy with the purchase and spending the extra money. Highly recommended.

Good product, fits Q2 well. Need better packaging.
Good product, fits well on Leica Q2! Doesn’t impact the image quality, wonderful protection for the lens. However, the manufacturer didn’t provide a separate plastic container for the filter. Filter is directly put into that little black fabric bag without any protection. There are so much dust and fibers on the filter’s glass the moment when I took out the filter from the bag.I would still recommend the product, a pretty nice and affordable lens protection for Leica Q2. Hope the manufacturer can improve the packaging a little bit in the future.
