Just what I was looking for
I met Sarah at a css Meetup in Arizona a few years ago where she presented the power of SVG. I was thrilled to finally find the time to go over her book. As expected it's an outstanding guide about getting into the SVG web development world. As a front end developer who strongly relies on CSS animations I can now expand my creations and take on a new dimension of creativity. There's so much more to be said about this book but if you are a developer and wondering if this is the right book to get you started, and even take you beyond, with SVG then have no doubts and jump on it.P.s. The book has a ton of codepen examples so if you go with the Kindle version you can directly click on the links and open them in your browser.Thank you, Sarah, for sharing all this marvelous knowledge with us.

A mother lode of design gems
I have been coding for close to 40 years but I have the graphic design IQ of a 6 year old. I cannot recommend SVG Animations enough; it's a mother lode of design gems conveyed in simple to understand principles that make sense. She systematically goes through the once foreign concepts of morphing, revealing, style, cues, interactions and conservation of space with jaw-dropping operational examples. Amazing.

Solid Text
Great step by step, maybe a little heavy on the jargon early on.

SVG escalates quickly.
Starting you off making simple shapes and learning the markup, by Chapter 13, you are making cool ray guns with unlimited possibilities. By Chapter 15, SVG learns how to use said ray gun on you. By Chapter 17, you reach full SVG self-awareness and sentient SVG beings able to make 5-star Amazon Reviews autonomously.

Bad print quality!
Did I get a bootleg copy? For a book about scalable vector graphics it appears as if none were used by the printers of this book. I haven’t yet read it so this review is in no way a reflection of the book’s contents. But for near $40 I’d expect the images to not look like they were printed by a home inkjet printer. Still excited to read this, but pretty bummed. Guess I’ll only be purchasing eBooks from O’Reilly in the future. I can’t give an accurate star rating so I’m the interest of not dinging the author for something likely out of her control I’m leaving 5 stars for now.

Going to assume the lack of reviews means everyone bought ...
Going to assume the lack of reviews means everyone bought this book, consumed it, and is on CodePen having a blast. This is the manual you want to guide you through what would take a million CSS Tricks, Stack Overlfow, Google searches, and CodePen post-mortems.Grab a copy, secure a version of Illustrator, and when in doubt reference one of Sarah's Youtube talks or CSS Tricks... cecause you will still end up there, you always do.

Four Stars
Not bad, could be better in writing examples.
