No issues at all — the drive performs as expected, averaging around 150 MB/s transfer speed. I bought this as a gift for my brother to back up his computer, and it’s been working perfectly so far. Reliable, quiet, and plenty of storage for the price.

Works as intended

This is a review for the Seagate 6TB desktop hard drive. The portable models I've had before (4TB) have been virtually silent, but this one is not. Immediately upon plugging it in for the first time, it starting making a fan-like whirring noise that has been constant. You'll notice it if you're in a very quiet location, but some moderate ambient noise in your environment would be enough to mask it. The noise is enough for me that it's not going to be acceptable leaving it connected constantly, but that's OK, I can demote it to an emergency backup drive. Noise aside, performance has been great so far. This is my fourth Seagate drive (previous ones have been the portable ones). My oldest one is about six years old. They've all held up well so far. I format them into 2TB partitions for Linux and it works great.

I have 2 of these. One as a backup for my Computer & another to record OTA TV with my OTA DVR. They both work great.

I bought a Seagate external HD a few years back and it failed after a couple years so I thought I just got unlucky. Just because of availability I got a second Seagate external HD last black Friday and this one failed in less than a year. From day one it was already noisy but I didn't think much of it. Now it just has problems accessing any data on the drive and makes very loud "crunching" sounds every time it's trying to retrieve data. Needless to say, I already lost a bunch of data on the drive and will try to recover whatever is left. To make matters worse, I also bought an internal Seagate HD on the same day and it is also making loud disk accessing noises since day one. It hasn't failed yet but this leads me to think there is some manufacturing problem with their hard drives. Now I know why Seagate was available and my first option(Western Digital) wasn't last year.

Zocht een backup drive voor relatief weinig geld, maar van een bekend beproeft merk. Betrouwbaarheid boven snelheid of vormgeving. Ik kreeg wat ik verwachten , en zou er gerust bijkopen bij behoefte aan meer opslagruimte.

Fine so far, and easy to use. Aesthetically, a clean, quiet look. Just, not very fast but i guess you get what you pay for. User tip: it's not an SSD so don't ever move it or knock it while it's on! That could be tickets for your data. I bought 2 to enable double-back up. Rather than have a single 12 TB drive that could pop.

Sto usando questo hard disk esterno Seagate da 6TB da qualche settimana e devo dire che mi ha sorpreso in positivo. Il funzionamento è fluido e veloce, non ho riscontrato problemi né rallentamenti. Un aspetto che apprezzo molto è la silenziosità: anche durante trasferimenti di file di grandi dimensioni resta praticamente impercettibile. Trasferimento che peraltro avviene in tempi brevi. Ovviamente non essendo un SSD non ha gli stessi tempi per download ed upload e nemmeno la stessa silenziosità ma è davvero un ottimo compromesso. Collegato al Mac lo lascio sempre attaccato, la cosa bella è che entra automaticamente in standby quando non lo utilizzo: si spegne da solo e si riattiva immediatamente nel momento in cui serve accedere ai dati. Una funzione molto comoda, soprattutto per chi lavora a lungo davanti al computer e non vuole preoccuparsi di accenderlo o spegnerlo manualmente. La capienza di 6TB è più che sufficiente per archiviare foto, video e backup senza pensieri. In sintesi, un prodotto solido e affidabile, adatto a chi cerca spazio e comodità senza rumori fastidiosi. Io lo uso come backup di tutti i miei lavori video e foto. Considerando queste caratteristiche ed il rapporto qualità prezzo tenendo conto della capacità lo considero assolutamente un must have! Accuratamente imballato, ho ricevuto il prodotto in meno di una settimana.
